I have a 5 month labradoodle, Wrigley. I have been posting/reading the food group here for a few days now because he constantly has diarrhea and/or loose poop.
He was eating NutroMax puppy until we switched him to Blue Buffalo. His poops got better but then he stopped eating the BB (I think he didn't like the taste) so we bought some vita gravy to put on it. His diarrhea came back worse after those days so I figured it was the gravy.
From the forums here I am not trying to slowly switch him to Orijen large puppy so he has no soy, corn, wheat, grains etc. We started this on Tuesday night. I bought some pumpkin to help the process but of course he doesn't like it. So I tried light plain greek yogurt and he loves it. But today he's had diarrhea about 5 times in the past few hours. We have some ID food and puppy pepto so we gave him some of each.
I have taken him to the vet previously when this happens and they said he didn't have a paraiste and just must have an irritable/sensitive stomach.
I'm tempted to take him to the vet tomorrow for them to tell me it's not a parasite, but based on his happiness/activity level I have to believe my gut that he is fine and it's all related to food.
Has anyone had similar issues with their doodle (almost constant loose poop and/or diarrhea)? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated :)
Poop update: He pooped twice today so far and I have never seen such perfect poops from him. We'll keep him on chicken and rice through tomorrow and then bring back the food on Monday and see how he does. Probably 1/2 old and 1/2 new.
Update: We have been transitioning to Orijen the past few days using white rice and boiled chicken. Knock on wood his poops have been solid since Sunday morning! He is also eating the food without coaxing (although we have given him a little cottage cheese mixed in it). He seems to be liking it and doing well. I'll give it another few days before introducing his bones back into the mix since he loves chewing and I can tell he's been looking for them in his toy basket/around the house. Thanks again for everyone's input/concern/ideas!
That's fantastic! I know what you mean about doodles looking for their things in the toy basket! We always throw away toys once she starts to unstuff them, and for the next couple days she sulks and looks around the house and in her basket for that particular toy.
It's like "but I just got to the good stuff with that toy!!!!"

Yay! FIngers crossed that it lasts! I wouldn't rush to add the treats yet. The pet store guy suggested we lay off treats until we are sure the new food is suiting Milo, and I can see the sense in that. We are only giving him one sweet potato chew a day to play it safe.
Hi Again - Glad to hear you are making progress. Your post caused me to do a little research ( with help from my son) as Tigger is still on the "pumpkin plan" from his surgery over a month ago. I found a dog food and dog supplements made from people grade food in a plant certified for making people food. I feed I-Vet which is made in Ohio in a kosher people food plant since the food disaster a couple of years ago. Anyway, long story short, I just sent for a supplement for Tigger to help with his digestion. You might want to look at their site - it is The Honest Kitchen. Hope all continues to go well with Wrigley.
