Sorry if this has been discussed but....I am currently feeding my two doodles Fromm's four star line. We have been sticking with the two fish options as the others have caused some gas issues.  For a few weeks they have not been having the best poops and I know that in the past, Whopper has done really well on grain free options.  Simba will be 6 months on the 21st.  The guy at the store said Simba would be fine on the Fromm grain free because the protein isn't as high as some other grain free foods.  Is this true?  Should I wait?  I want to keep them both on the same food as they are excellent at sharing (or have issues focusing on their own bowls).  Thanks for any insight!

There's no reason puppies can't have grain-free food. It's a myth that the protein is too high for them, but it is true that the grain-free Fromm's formula is lower in protein than some of the other grain-free foods.  Orijen makes nothing but grain-free food, and they have a puppy formula.

6 month is not too young. I would have no hesitation in telling you to go ahead with the grain-free formulas for both of them.

I'm curous, though. I know Fromm has the  Four star Salmon a la veg, but what's the other fish formula? Isn't the new one a grain-free formula as well?

They also have a whitefish and sweet potato.  The duck is the variety that gave at least one of them pretty significant gas.  We don't have any major issues here with grain or different proteins aside from some gas but I'm just trying to get back to more firm poops like Whopper had while on some of the previous foods we fed her before switching to Fromm.  Most recently we fed Whopper California Natural and before that was the Canidae Grain Free.  Simba has only known Fromm and what the breeder had him on which was not the best food option.

I also think they do now have two grain free options but I've only seen one where I shop so I'll have to get them to start bringing in the other too if we make the switch and want variety.  Thanks for the insight on feeding them both the grain free.

Izzy (12 weeks) is now completely switched over to Orijen puppy (this week). We've had absolutely no issues. She has a little gas every now and then (and very odoriferous mind you) but her poops are sure good:)

I did this because Lucca is on the adult Orijen and I want to keep the food the same.

Peri started out on TOTW, grain-free, so I feel pretty confident Simba is good to go if it works...
