It was so scary. We were here at our grooming shop and Huff was barking like a maniac. I decided to let him off leash so he would stop. It worked but little did I know, the back door was open. He went to the back door unnoticed. He went outside, I don't really know what happened after that. Just a little while later, we noticed, "Where's Huff?" I remembered that I let him off leash and I saw the back door open. I panicked, my Dad panicked. We ran outside and I screamed, "Huff! Huff! Huff!" Then I heard my dad calling "Come here, boy! Come here!" I turned around and saw him standing at the top of the hill. We started calling him and he came! I was so scared. I feel so bad. I am so glad he is okay and glad that he actually came when he was called! We have tried to train him to come when called but nothing really works. I think he is getting better now, though. I just kind of needed to vent and didn't really know where else to post this, so I posted it here.

Like everyone, I my heart skipped a few beats when I saw the title of your post. I'm so thankful that Huff came back to you, and everything is okay now.
So am I, So am I...... My heart pretty much stopped when I noticed he was gone.....
Yikes--everyone's worst nightmare--glad he came back!
I know, I don't know what I'd do without him....
The latch on our gate broke and our dogs got out. A neighbor boy tried to call the dogs to take them home and Clancy barked at him and scared him so he let the dogs stay out. When we got home two of the three had gone back into the back yard, but the third met me in the driveway as I pulled in. I was in a panic looking and calling for the two until I realized they were in the backyard. I wish I knew how to teach the dogs to go to strangers.
Oh, I am glad they all came back but you don't always want them to go with strangers, they might want to dognap them! It is kind of a good and bad. Was it one of your doodles that met you in the driveway?
You are right about strangers, but I think I would rather have them stolen than hit by a car. Like you though I am so grateful that nothing bad happened.
Ya, I would rather have him stolen too. Was it one of your doodles that waited for you in the driveway?
It was our old lab mix and our Springer. We didn't have Ned or Clancy then. Our old Simon was just an awesome dog and we miss his nurturing and teaching the others the 'rules.'
Awww, I'm sorry to hear that:(
