Anyone tried Zymox Otic to treat or prevent ear infections?

My miniature Australian Labradoodle was just diagnosed with her first ear infection and is currently being treated by a vet, but I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with Zymox Otic for treating or preventing ear infections as I have heard some good reports about their products and would like to avoid an ear infection recurring.  I have been religiously plucking Aylah's ear hair, cleaning her ears at least once a week (sometimes twice) clipping her ears to allow for airflow and have her on a grain free diet.  I thought I'd put the question out to the wonderfully knowledgable people here on Doodle Kisses.

Try adding a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt to his food everyday too.  I was also cautioned about "over-cleaning" the ears as it strips away natural oils and waxes.  Once the infection is cleared, only clean once every two weeks.  I have ear wipes (look like baby wipes - you can get them at Wal-mart) that I use in between deep cleaning just to remove any surface wax or after a swim or bath to get the water out.

We have used Zymox and it does an excellent job. We now use Thornit monthly, look for it in Doodlekisses, it is a powder that seems to work well in Doodle ears. We have Billy, he swims several times a day and has had no ear problems, and Lexi, who does not swim but was having ear problems until we started her on Thornit. The product works............there are several blogs onDoodle Kisses and we  swear by it.  We buy it from a site in the UK, just Google "Thornit ear powder".  There is a video on U Tube that tells you all about it.

Ollie had stinky ears for a few days. After reading lots of excellent reviews on Amazon, I decided to try it. I had tried other ear cleaners and powders but it had not helped. Zymox cleared the smell and redness in exctly 3 days. It is thick and sticky but does the job. Check Amazon if you want to read experiences of others. There are hundreds of reviews. HTH.

The first year we had our doodles we had several ear infections with each of them.  I have been using the Thornit Ear Powder about once a month for the last year and we have not had any ear infections.  I clean their ears every few weeks and keep the hair trimmed in and around their ears.  I have never plucked the hair in their ears.  They will both be two early next year. 

I have tried the Zymox Otic, but I like the Thornit Ear Powder best.  I got it from ebay.

We have used the Zymox in some of those tenacious ear problems and been very pleased with the results.  Thornit is also a wonderful product.  In our *opinion* Thornit is a great preventative or treatment for mild ear issues but for those that persevere Zymox has worked it all out better and then we follow with Thornit.  You can also obtain Thornit from a website called Gomers Inc in addition to the UK sites.
