I am stealing the last few comments and putting them here since a discussion is a much easier formatfor this sort of thing. Linda has started the idea of a place to sell handcrafted items and here is what she wrote:

Great  news! I got a reply from Adina about her thoughts on us starting a DK "Buy, Sell, Trade" group. Here's our conversation about it:

ME: Hi Adina, I'm curious to know your thoughts on starting a Buy, Sell, Trade group on DK. Kind of like our own little Etsy where people can sell things they make (doodle-y accessories, jewelry, scarves, etc), trade services, post a list of things they are looking for, etc. We have so many talented people, scatterered around various groups, I thought it might be nice to have a central place where they can share/offer their talents.

We would obviously have to put a disclaimer on there that holds you and DK harmless and exempt from any liability. Buy at your own risk, kind of thing.

ADINA: Hi Linda, I love the Etsy idea and I'm cool with other handcrafted/homemade stuff being sold from member to member.  What I'd like to avoid is any members selling 'other' people's general merchandise/mass market dog products or MLM dog food.  What do you suggest for posting rules for such a group to keep selling appropriate items.

ME: Nice! You bring up a great point. I totally agree with the need for it to be personally hand crafted items - no reselling of professionally manufactured items or (heaven forbid) any MLM products. I'll share your comments and concerns with our Photography group (where the discussion came up to have a Buy, Sell, Trade group) and see if we can come up with a description that clearly spells out what is allowed/not allowed.

I like the idea as well and maybe there is a disclaimer and rules already on sites like Etsy that we can copy from. Why recreate the wheel?  Does anyone have an Etsy account that they would know of these rules and disclaimer?

* All products being sold must have elements of it that were handcrafted by you. For example, you are not permitted to buy a leash at a great price and then resell it "as is" for the sake of making a profit. However, you may buy a new leash at wholesale or retail price, bedazzle it, and then sell it here.

* You are welcome to post a link to a website that further describes/showcases your products/services, provided they fall into the criteria of our Terms of Use.

* This is not the place to sell or promote MLM (Multi Level Marketing) products/services or recruit people for "business opportunities."

I think public complaints should NOT be allowed at all. If you get something you do not like - too bad and buyer beware. How many times have you ordered a product you didn't like and just let it go - usually.  How many bad haircuts have you or your doodles had that you just let go - many.  This should be like that also -  publicly. Privately you can do what you want.

I wonder of there should be sub groups or 'discussion' groups that highlight the type of product - dog items, re-sale or trade of gently used items, hand-crafted wearables, home products etc.

Discussion categories are a great idea.  Maybe something like Fibers (knitting, crocheting, etc), Bling (jewelery, and shiny things), etc.  Maybe a separate discussion dedicated to Trade.

Great news! We've got the "Buy-Sell-Trade" group up and going now! Woo-hoo!

I'm really excited about getting this launched. I think there are sooooo many talented/creative people on DK and it will be fun to er... buy, sell, and trade things with each other. Any ideas or suggestions for how to run it smoothly would be greatly appreciated!!! And if you can help me come up with a better profile image, that would be awesome, too. :)
