is wondering if Lincoln Doodle would like another Doodle since he lost his brother Scottie :D Do Doodles get along best?

I think all dogs know when they are of like-kind.  Hunter always seems out of sorts with my friends shelties even though they get along great.  Get her with a group of doodles and she just looks like she "knows".

I am still grieving the loss of my beloved dog Scott so I'm not sure if it's the right time.  I do know that I don't want to go through puppyhood again, but at the same time I would like to have influence on it's upbringing, but with careful consideration and a lot of research I can find a Doodle that would work.  Of course I have quite a dominant Goldendoodle (Lincoln) so that's a consideration as well.  He has come a long way though :D

Glad to hear that Lincoln is doing better! So sorry for your loss of Scott... I hope that when the time is right you find the perfect addition to your family :)

I know what you mean about not wanting to go through puppyhood again... I think I will be looking for an adult also when we get our next dog.

Thank you Candy.  I couldn't have done it without the support here at Doodlekisses :D  Lincoln has his quirks, but is really coming around.  Much calmer than he was. He is still challenging me on occasion :D  He will be two next month...yay!!!!  I'm still not sure about the cats, but he leaves them alone for the most part now.  Every now and again though he gets a little crazy with them.  I have to keep an eye out.  I'm not sure that Lincoln might be better off an only dog because of his dominance.  What I need to know is how can you tell if a dog is going to work out.  I guess it's a roll of the dice.  I mean even if they meet them out of the house it's a whole different story in the house.

Hi there. We had our large doodle Frankie Girl since she was 10 weeks. We paid way too much money and spent way too many hours on getting through the puppy stage and she ended becoming fabulous but a spoilt little brat. She actually turns her face away when both my husband try and kiss her and if the treat is not the one she wants, she spits it out.  Anyway, two weeks ago, we decided at 18 months it was the perfect time to bring in another doodle, so in comes Johnny Boy. Now he is entirely different in every way. Cannot get enough kisses, eats everything in sight and truly brought new life into Frankie Girl. Admittedly, our perfect lawn no longer exists, but the joy I get from watching these two doodles play, like only doodles do, is far more sweet to my heart that a perfect green lawn. Frankie Girl, now enjoys kissed, does not turn her nose up to any treats, and is eating like a champion (before her brother gets it) Look on doodle rescue. They have some amazing dogs for adoption and they care the dogs get before they eventually come to you is beyond belief. Johnny Boy must have had at least $1,000 worth of well-needed surgery before we adopted him. Therefore, I am currently running a fund raiser to try and offset some of the costs he incurred. So  my reply is yes, yes, yes, get another doodle..you wont regret it and your own darling doodle will help teach the new doodle how to become part of the family.

Holy cow I think we have the same dog Frances :).  Lincoln will not kiss us at all, and believe me I've tried to get him to, and he turns his nose up at his food so I have to hand feed him a little, but then he eats the rest on his own.  He is better in that department since we changed his food.  We too have spent a fortune on training and behaviorists.  Which Doodle Rescue site do you mean?  Is there a specific one?  I have been to IDOG.  Thanks for the encouragement.  Congrats with Johnny Boy!!!  He sounds like alot of fun :D

Actually Lincoln is affectionate in his own way.  He loves to be patted :D, and will come up and lie with you.  He just won't give kisses :(

In truth it probably does not matter, but my two doodles DO get along better together than our Springer.  The doods love to play and wrestle while the Springer, just wants to sniff.  I think what is important is that the temperaments of the dogs match. Is their play drive and interest in others the same?  When in doubt, get another doodle.
