Mine is hiking. We are very lucky to have great hiking and bike trails all through the foothills near our home, I can't say that it's as challenging as I'd like, my girls are fascinated with all of the various smells along the trail and come to an abrupt halt about every 30 seconds That part is good for them.
If I shorten up the leash and pick up the pace, they do like to run....That's good for me but not so easy to do on the hiking trail, much easier just running through the neighborhood on the sidewalk, not as many interesting things to smell, more to see and hear though, like all of the other dogs barking through their fences. I guess I need a balance. I don't want to give up the trails but I definitely need to pick up the pace.

We love walking in our small town and on the beach when we can get there.  We also like to play catch with the ball.  My two doodles act like it is the best thing in the world when I ask, "Do you want to go for a walk?"  Java Joe likes to swim and does so daily in spring, summer and fall.
My girls too. We have to be careful not to even nudge or bump the leashes or it's GAME ON! They won't take no for an answer.
We like going for walks  and playing soccer ball in our back yard  I try to give Wilson 30 minutes after work each day but some days it is sooo very cold it is hard too do   This group will keep me going ! ! Thanks for starting it
We love walking in the military national park near us.  Lots of designated hiking trails and on road space when too muddy to be in the woods.  Lily & Jasper love to go to dog parks to run til their tongues are hanging, but Zeke enjoys this less because of over exuberant dogs, his temperament is very calm and does not like rough play except with other doodles.  There are the nightly wrestling matches before bedtime that last at least 20 minutes and usually include some fetch and tug of war.  DH walks them individually each morning in our neighborhood during a break in his day, and I walk them again 2-3 times a week in the evening in the park.
We love hiking too Donna! Bern loves the smells and the trails are so much easier on my knees when we jog - not to mention IMMENSELY more entertaining that staring at a wall on a treadmill (like I used to do). It's also good for training Bern to watch me, to look at me as his leader, I'll cut onto a different path without warning, run around a tree, etc. just so he doesn't get used to being up front and dragging me along! Now he's more well behaved on trails than he is on our neighborhood walks, which are, like you implied, a lot more predictable.
