I'm pretty sure MacKenzie just ATE my knee high!  I saw it in her mouth, got up to get something to trade her for it so that it wouldn't become a game of tug, turned around and it's disappeared! Gone!  How freaked out should I be that I'm going to end up in the ER with her?  What should I be watching her for?  She's acting totally normal right now and can't seem to figure out why I keep trying to look down her throat!

It is sort of weird to have to "childproof" your house for a puppy!  We still have to watch Mitzi, and barely a day

goes by without my reaching into her mouth for something she seems to be chewing on.  The frustrating thing

is that she ignores all the "chew" toys we have gotten for her.  She won't even go near the Kong!  People things

seem to be her choice of chewables!   : )  !!!

Yes keep an eye on her, If she throws up or starts to get diarrhea or constipation then those are the signs of a blockage and it's time to head to the vet. My carlos ate a sock 2 months ago.

I watched very carefully but I never saw it come out either end so who knows! He was having diarrhea and threw up once so I took him to the vet assuming he had a blockage. The vet gave me some muscle relaxers for him and told me to substitute his meals with 1 1/2 cups of rice and boiled hamburger to help move it threw his system.

After nearly two weeks of a expensive hamburger and rice diet...still no sock so because he was still acting completely normal and not having any pooping issues, I returned to feeding him his normal food. Now it has been 2 months and I have yet to see the sock.

someone told me this happened to thier dog and it was a month before he trhew it up onto their floor.

All you can do is wait and see!

Good luck ! :)

I wouldn't be worried about it too much.  Mia has swallowed a pair of my underwear whole before.  I saw her grab them and run away with them. Then I saw her swallow and no more panties... 24 to 30 hours later they passed no problem.

Okay...I think THAT is the funniest one I've heard!

I really appreciate everyone's advice and happy-ending stories!  Though I must say...10 days...1 month... 2 months...or never has me a BIT concerned!  ;)  I'm hoping it passes this weekend so that I'm definitely around to help with the extraction! (The rest of the family does not seem to be watching her eliminations as closely as I am...;p)

But the 24 hour update is: nothing unusual yet...

SUCCESS!!   Yea!!!  Less than 72 hours and the stocking made its way out (with a bit of assistance...eewwww!) - and helped push through a piece of plastic and some other unidentifiable object!  I'm so relieved!  But seriously...she's such a picky eater when it comes to food...her penchant for eating nonedibles makes no sense...

Jeanie, I'm glad to hear of MacKenzie's not-so-sweet success at passing all of her miscellaneous items!! WTD!! What's that girl been eating?? No wonder she is not hungry for food-she is already full!! Maybe she will eat better now!! LOL!

Seriously though I am so glad to hear that everything came out alright! hee hee! (couldn't resist!)

Glad everything worked out in the end..lol!
Amen.

Jeanie,  I have not read the other posts and I am not an alarmist but our previous dog, Clay, ate a pair of my panty hose and we called the emergency vet clinic.  They told us to bring him in right away as it could cause a blockage of his intestines.  We rushed him in and they "retrieved" the stockings.  I know the panty hose are much bigger than a knee high stocking but I think you should take MacKenzie in.  Better safe than sorry.

OOps just read the last post.  Glad everything came out okay!  Pun intended.
I guess the stocking was like fibre!!!  Cleaned out her bowels!!  What a scare though!
