When Dylan, our 18 month old labradoodle chases a ball or stick, he always ends with a very funny bounce on all four legs just like a lamb! He hits the floor with all 4 feet together and launches himself forward and sort of bounces before he reaches his prey.
Having never owned a dog before, I'm not sure if this is usual dog behaviour or whether it might be specific to doodles?
It's soooo funny to watch and I have to stand still to see it every time....my little spring lamb doodle!
Camus is a super bouncy doodle, sometimes on all fours, sometimes straight up. I love to watch him when he does his bouncing, because he looks so happy when he does..
And yes, Dylan definitely has a wiggle in his walk too. It's amazing how strong their different doggy genes can come out in the different things they do.
He loves to run but he is not so graceful then...I always think his back legs are going to try and overtake his front ones! So much enthusiasm! Love it though!
Gavin does the "poodle prance" and the "show dog stance," where the back legs are stretched back and spread out a bit. It's a bit of an oxymoron, because he such a big furry galout. He looks so graceful walking with his long hair flouncing up and down and his tail held high. It seems to be what catches everyone's attention when he we are out walking. Of course soon as he approachs people he lowers his head and the butt starts wiggling all golden retriever-like. I guess that is the beauty of the mix.
Just wanted to say that we didn't manage to capture the springy lamb moves today. And....dylans having 'The Op' tomorrow ( if I don't chicken out and cancel!)
So he won't be springing for a week or two but I'll post a video when he's back on form
He'll be ok won't he? Any good news stories about how they hardly notice and are back to themselves in hours? As I write this he's sitting beside me on the sofa having a cuddle...I'm sure he knows!
Hope the surgery and recovery go smoothly. Owen is a bouncy boy, but one of our golden retrievers was too so we are used to it. He knows he has to sit before I'll put his food bowl down but he has to bounce up on all fours many, many times before he can get control and sit.
