Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone.  My husband and I are relocating to Northern Virginia.  Next weekend (Feb 12), we will be in the Vienna/Reston area trying to find a place.  We are having a hard time figuring out what to do with our doods for the weekend as they have never been boarded.  We are encountering issues with official doggy daycare due to interview requirements.  Is anyone in the area interested in having a very extended play-date?  We'd probably need someone to watch them from about 9AM-6 PM on Saturday. If any of our NJ friends are reading this and you'd like to have playmates for the weekend definitely let me know as well!  We will be more than willing to return the favor!

Thanks,

Lindsey, Lee, Whopper and Simba

I could do it if you want to drag them to northern Bergen county.
Thank you so much for the offer! We know Whopper and Simba would have a ton of fun with Calla and Luca. You are a little over an hour north of us and we are hoping to find someone a little closer to where we live or further south along our route. If we don't, we will definitely let you know and see if you are still interested.
That certainly makes sense. Sorry to hear you're leaving the Garden State.

First of all, Welcome to the DCVAMD area. I know you will love it here!

I'm on your way in Maryland (where I-95 meets the Capitol Beltway 495) - I'd do it but I have appointments all afternoon. However, I have an awesome dog sitter/boarder. We never considered boarding the girls when we traveled before we met our new groomer. We always had someone come in for visits but Lucky is still using a crate and I felt so bad about her penned up most of the time. Our new groomer also boards dogs. It's a small business and sometimes it's only our girls there. It's a small heated/AC barn with personal stalls. Our girls take their big blanket and sleep together in one stall when they stay over night. She leaves the barn door open to the fenced yard in back so the dogs can go in and out as the want during daylight hours. The yard is big, and runs up the side of a rocky hill. It can be divided in half if personalities clash or to keep tiny dogs from being crushed by large doodles :) They really love it there and sometimes I have her groom them so they're nice when we pick them up. It's 15 minutes up the road from me and I'd be glad to escort you there Saturday morning after a short romp in our back yard. Let me know if this interests you. - Sally

I'd definitely be interested in learning more about this.  I'll send you a message with my personal contact information.

We live in VA.  Does your groomer take other dogs?  My Ginger is just 3 months, so not readly yet, but it sounds PERFECT!!  What is her name, if it's ok to give it out>

Pam

Hi Pam! Irina is in Burtonsville Md. Probably a 45+ min drive from Alexandria in no traffic, but she knows how to groom doodles! 495 to 29 north. Not sure i can post her link here. Friend me back and i'll email you.
Tell her Maple and Lucky Hamilton sent you!
Thanks!  We haven't quite figured out how we are going to coordinate all of this.  It's complicated only because of the timing of looking at places and getting back and forth to drop them off and pick them up.  I know they would have a lot of fun with you though so if we can work it out, we definitely may take you up on that offer!  Our doods are used to apartment living as we currently live in one as well.
Megan, i told Lindsey about The Big Bad Wolf. And btw, thanks so much for telling me about that awesome pet supply store.

Welcome to the area!!!  I would love to help, but my puppy is too small and not finished shots..so I can't  help right now...but maybe later.

Good luck with your move!

I recently moved to Vienna.  It just happens that my inlaws and my parents are coming that weekend, so our house will be very chaotic.   However I'd love to dog sit your dogs in the future.  Paulie would be very happy to have some doodle playdates!  ^-^
Wow. What a coincidence. We are very excited and it's nice to know that Whopper and Simba will definitely have lots of doodle friends in the area. We will have to arrange a time to all meet and I'm sure there will be times we can help you as well.
