February Assignment

I thought it would be fun for us to submit pictures of ourselves, or our family members, as babies or small children. A small description of the circumstances of the picture, or life at the time would be interesting. You could also let us know if you would like people to "doodle" around with the picture(s). I don't know if colorizing black and white pictures is possible or good. You don't need a scanner. I have taken pictures of my old pictures in order to get them on my computer. So let's have some February fun.

Really enjoyed looking at all of these old photos. I'm going to have to dig through mine and see if I can put some on here too.

Is anyone familiar with photographers Clyde & Niki Butcher? Clyde is very famous in Florida, reminds me of the FL swamp version of Ansel Adams. A few years ago we visited their studio in the Everglades and watched a demonstration by Niki hand painting B&W photos with q-tips & cotton balls!! It was so fascinating to watch however time-consuming. She now uses a Wacom tablet and Photoshop but it was so interesting to see how it used to be done.

I did some more digging. The first one are my paternal grandparents, possibly from their wedding. My grandmother died just before I was born.

I took these with my new point and shoot, Canon PowerShot sd1300, which I got on ebay, under a skylight. Unfortunately for my fellow PG members there is more to come. If anyone wants to get rid of the cracks on the first one that would be great. Years ago, I had copies made of some of these old photos. But I had no way of cropping and editing and I had to have them done in a photo shop. Amazing what we can do now!
