I have been wanting to read this book and since we need to read novels for school, I thought I would read this one for school. The only problem is, I don't have a copy to read! haha:) I was wondering if anybody wanted to trade a copy of Room for something that I might have? Maybe a leash, a collar, doggy treats, or perhaps another book? I can't get it at the library because I will never be able to find time to return it and I don't really want to order it from a website. I have a lot of books and most of them are in pretty good shape. I kind of need this book A.S.A.P. so if we can work something out, the sooner the better. I am new to this group as we all are but if this is something we are not allowed to do, please tell me. I am not too familiar with the rules even though I read the terms of use already haha:) Thanks:)

I asked my kids if they had this book and they don't.  What is it about and who is the author?

Nancy, it's by Emma Donoghue.

"ROOM is narrated by a five-year-old called Jack, who lives in a single room with his Ma and has never been outside. An international bestseller as soon as it was published in August 2010, ROOM has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and won the Hughes & Hughes Irish Novel of the Year and the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize (for best Canadian novel). It has also been a finalist for International Author of the Year (Galaxy National Book Awards) and the Governor General’s Award.  The American Library Association have given it an Alex Award (for an adult book with special appeal to readers 12-18). ROOM was Amazon.ca and Indigo’s Best Book of 2010, the listeners’ choice on Liveline (Ireland), and fiction winner of the Goodreads Choice Awards.

Jack and Ma live in a locked room that measures eleven foot by eleven.  When he turns five, he starts to ask questions, and his mother reveals to him that there is a world outside. Told entirely in Jack’s voice, ROOM is no horror story or tearjerker, but a celebration of resilience and the love between parent and child."

Oh my gosh, I must read this.  I can't believe I hadn't heard about it or my college aged- kids hadn't. I guess we have all been living in either textbookland or trashbookland! Thank you so much for telling me.
I've read it, it's amazing, you should definitely check it out. :-)
I have an unopened game set of Tripoley to trade. It says it is the game of Michigan Rummy, Hearts and Poker. It has the rules in English and Spanish.:) haha I have a book called, 'Cracker! The Best Dog in Vietnam' by Cynthia Kadohata which has never been used. It has just been sitting on the bookshelf. I have another book called, 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark' by Ryder Windham based on the story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman and the screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan. This one has also never been read. It also has some pictures (comics kind of) in color in the middle of the book. I have another book called 'Breathe a ghost story' by Cliff McNish. It has only been read once but is still in pretty good condition. It is a pretty good story if you like stories about ghost children and how ghosts get their power and stuff like that. If you want to know about any other books, just ask. I have tons! haha:) I have some old Nancy Drew books too but those are more used than others. If you ask about a specific title, I might be able to find it in my bookshelves. I also have lots of new looking stuffed animals for valentines day. I sound like I am selling something haha:) If you are interested in anything, just ask me I might have it. Thanks:)
Target had it on sale for $10 I thnk it was this week. Also THE HELP was $10
I saw it at target before but it was expensive and my Dad didn't want to get it. I can't believe I missed it this week though, we went to target like two or three times (back to school, searching for the perfect backpack, ended up getting a suitcase. We don't have lockers so I have to bring all of my books to school every day.)
The one that was expensive was a hardcover it was like 22 dollars.
I finally got it!:) We went to target and it was still on sale. My dad got it for me. I have been reading it and it is really good so far. I have only gotten to like, page 23 though.:) Busy going back to school and everything. I haven't had time to go on the computer in a while. We are going to a regular brick and mortar school now. Last year we did not do so well in online school. I am kind of sick of computers now though. I only go on every now and then. Our teachers want us to visit their websites every week though. I don't think I have much time for that now though. Oh well, Thanks for letting me know the book was on sale. If I hadn't known, my dad probably wouldn't have gotten it for me until Christmas. haha:)
