Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Ive been looking at alot of F1b labradoodles and they all seem to have more or a poodley coat.Tight curls.Dakota has a soft wavy fleece coat and she looks more like a F1.My breeder said she was a F2 because she is breed from poodle to a lab and then back to a poodle.I showed her in my labradoodle book that this is called a Flb.She didnt get mad or deffensive because i had the book right there.What is a F2.Do some people call a F1B a F2.I love Dakota no matter what she is i just hate being lied to.So is she an F1.

I think F2 is second generation (labradoodle+labradoodle) Stella is an F1b goldendoodle and at 7 months she is more wavy than curley.

An F1b is a mix of a labradoodle and a poodle. I think and F2 is a mix of two labradoodles but I am not sure. I only know the F1b because I have an F1B toy goldendoodle

You can not base it off the way they look though because as you know, all doodles are not created to look the same. He is so cute.

We bred Caeleach (f1)  to Seamus, our Standard poodle.  Out of 9 puppies, 7 were very poodly and two look just like Labs!

Bottom line is that they are cross-bred and you can't absolutely predict the look like you can with purebred dogs.

Here is our F1b CJ, she looks more like a Lb than her mother does!

BTW, the "dirt nose" is a constant! LOL

what do you call a puppy that comes from

Mom - came from 2 doodles

Dad - poodle

Adrianne

F1 = lab x poodle cross

F1b = F1 x poodle (b stands for back cross)

F2 = F1 X F1

 You can still get fleece coats in F1b's.

Zack is an  F2. Both parents are godlendoodles. He had a brother with a curly poodle coat.
An F2 is a F1 (lab to poodle) crossed with another F1. An F1b can be an F1 backcrossed to a lab or a poodle but usually a poodle is used. If Dakota was an F1 labradoodle bred back to a poodle she is an F1b. She is beautiful and has a lovely coat anyway you look at it.
Dakota has a beautiful coat! I think you were lucky.
My Samantha is an F1 - check the pictures on my page - the only waves she has is on the top of her head. The rest of her is straight. I am no expert but I don't think Dakota is an F1 - she is more poodle in her IMHO.
Bindi is a multigeneration labradoodle & she has a loose wavy coat. If Dakota doesn't shed then I would think she is and F1b from all I've read.

I think some F1 can have more curlier coat, and some F1b can have more of flatter coat. I don't know which one will be the stronger gene.....

Usually it's called an F1b.  But F1b is still a second generation doodle which is what an F2 is and hence the confusion.

But I've seen F1b's in a litter that looked A LOT like F1's.  Every litter has the chance of having a more retrieverish doodle and YOURS doesn't look retrieverish...she looks like a doodle.  I don't think her looks indicate any 'lying' on their own.
