Just needed to share this.  Our Aussiedoodle Krimmi is a pretty goofy, happy go lucky, not very serious dog. lol  He comes to work with my husband and I everyday. Last year, Krimmi came into my office and started whining.  At first I thought he need out, wanted a treat or just play.  I told him to be quiet several times but he was very insistent to the point of putting his head on my lap and whining, I mean loud.  I finally walked over to my hubby's office, sat down and told him something was wrong with the dog.  Krimmi was still whining, after a few minutes, there was a small rumble and everything shook slightly. Nothing major but just enough to feel it.  Didn't really think much of it since we work near an airport and thought it was just jet noise or something.  Krimmi had by now stopped.  Later on we heard on the radio that we had experienced an earthquake, obviously nothing major, but I know Krimmi sensed it at least 10 minutes before it happened.  Yesterday morning here at work, same thing and sure enough, although this time we couldn't feel anything at all, I heard on the news this morning that there was a slight earthquake not very far from here.  I just find it so amazing that he can sense it before it even happens.

That is amazing!!!  What a good dood!
Heh, maybe you should change her name to Richter!
hahaha, I like that.  Definitely better than what he usually gets called!
That really IS amazing!
Doodles (and all dogs for that matter) are amazing sensors.  Our Doodle Olivia knows when there will be a thunderstorm.  We don't need any weather report.  She can sense it way before we have any bad weather (high winds or thunder).  Olivia will begin pacing and letting us know a storm is coming.  When we lived in PA, a tornado came through our back yard.  Before it happened, Olivia was sitting inside the laundry room.  The laundry room was situated in the middle of the house and was the only room without windows (the best place we could have been if the tornado came through our house).  We know now to follow her lead if we ever expect any bad weather like that!
It's amazing how intune the animal world is. I've heard of this happening before with pets.

Actually, animals sensing impending earthquakes is fairly common. Not just dogs but many types of animals. Nat Geo has an article about it on line:

What an amazing opportunity though for you to see Krimmi exhibit this behavior!! It appears that scientists are still not able to ascertain exactly why this happens with animals. What it is that they are feeling or sensing. But now you know you have your own special kind of watch dog!! :)

Yes! it was really cool to see him in "action" I have heard of this in the past too, but to think my little goofball has this ability is really neat lol

I know there are "seizure dogs" out there, that somehow know when their owner will have a seizure and can give them notice to get to a safe area, but how this works is fascinating to me.

It fascinates me too! There is just SOOOO much more to our little friends than we can ever know!! :(

I have an idea! We need to get Krimmi together with one of those animal communicators from the other discussion and have him TELL them what it is he feels!!  Maybe we can do our own "not scientific" study!! LOL!!

that would be fun!!!!  I am afraid all the communicator would hear is "lalalalalalala"   poor guy, maybe I am not giving him enough credit, maybe there is a genius under all that hair or matts lol
Very cool!
When my son was a grad student at Purdue there was an earthquake on the New Madrid fault. It was about 5 am. His new kitten pounced on his chest and meowed loudly just prior. He said he was still pretty asleep but then he heard what he thought was a train outside his apartment...they realized he lived 1400 miles from his former apartment with the train.
