Recommendation for Natural Treatment for Thunderstorms or Fireworks

Can anyone recommend what to give our Doodles for their anxiety during thunderstorms or fireworks?  We recently tried a product called "Pet Calm", Richard's organics which contains Valerian, Chamomille, Hops, Passion Flower, Scull Cap...etc. for anxiety and stress.  Is this safe?   Our Doodle Olivia gets very stressed with storms and fire works.  Our other Doodle Sydney barks during storms and fireworks.

I have gotten the Thundershirt for Charlie.  He gets very anxious during thunderstorms and would just panic and sit and shake during the storm.  We have only had about 2 or 3 storms since getting his thundershirt, but it does seem to help.  With it on he still gets a little nervous but does not go into a total panic and shake.  What I like about this product is that the makers state clearly that they do not know exactly why it work scientifically and that it does not work for all dogs and that they will give you a refund if it does not work for your dog.

I love thundershirt!! Charlie wears it to her school everytime! It helps with her anxiety for new dogs coming in to the class.... ( She does not care for anything and anyone she is nor familiar with )

Another suggestion is Melatonin especially for dogs prone to seizures.  Melatonin is given to some dogs to prevent evening seizures and it is also used to calm dogs duringg storms.

We have a lot of suggestions in the Anxiety Group.  You may want to read about the Thunder Shirt, Rescue Remedy, and some other things dog owners have suggested in that group.

I am a huge fan of the thunder shirt. Jack does not have anxiety issues but if he did that is what I would use. I know people who use the human version of that on their children and it works amazing/

Try the thundershirt!  It swaddles them like a baby gets swaddled....doesn't work so great for Tori and her car anxiety, but I hear it works wonders for things like storms.  AND - you can return it if it doesn't work for you.  You can google it....

I just read about this in Modern Dog, haven't tried it so buyer beware but it sounds promising. Ironically enough the model for the size chart is a Doodle!
