Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Just like their, they're and there, can you tell the tale of a doodle's tail? We decided that the tail tells the tale. Generally, the labrador has a thick wide tail that acts as a rudder when he is swimming after birds in the water and not much long hair on the tail. The goldendoodle has a thinner tail with longer hair that makes a nice swish. The ALD has a thin tail that curls up over his back.
Well, this is our experience anyway and we have had all three. We get questions all the time about what type of dogs our dogs are.

This is my favorite tail in the whole world ..... This is Topper, our very 1st foster. As a matter of fact it was one year ago today that I picked him up! Ii have so many pictures of this tail because I just loved it so much. Reminded me of a big question mark, which seemed appropriate to me as we really questioned the environment that he came from! He was a little doll baby!
And here I thought this picture was destined for the trash :-) Both dogs are 50/50 goldendoodles, Webster has much more hair on his tail and he generally holds it somewhat straight. Charlotte has thinner hair and she curls her tail more.
Well, so much for my tail theory. Looks like tails come in all thicknesses and positions for all doodles. Learn something new every day about doodles.
Love Topper's tail!
