He's Here!!!!

We went to Barlycroft Kennels to pick up our puppy. While we intended to get one from Pansy/Trevor that was 8 weeks today, we ended up getting one from a different litter that is a week older. We fell in love with this guy, and are just enamored with him so far!

 

He had a fabulously easy drive home. He sat in my husband's lap in the backseat and barely moved. Slept and sat quitetly the entire time (2hrs and 45 minutes). We were planning on stopping for a potty break, but he was beign so good we didn't want to disturb him. We figured if he had to go he'd let us know. He made a 3 small wimpers about 45 minutes in for no real reason, but that is all.  The second we pulled into our driveway he did spit up just a small amount (so close!), but no motion sickness really.

 

Since being home he pottied outside once. We have a few stairs up to the house, and tried to do some training on that (maybe too soon). After getting up the first two with a few minutes of coaxing, he was not having it for the second set. So in we went, A little resting on the couch, and then a little exploring/playing, and a big nap.

This is my husband's first dog, and they are both taking to each other very well. I'm so happy right now!!

Thank you. My husband fell for him immediately. There were actually six black males (from 2 different litters). This boy was Green/Purple ribbon. Green is "his" color, and Purple is "mine". Our wedding theme was purple and green. So I think he was made for us! ;-]  he has been so good today. He's slept a lot, so i worry he wont sleep tonight, but we'll see. I think it would be amazing if we could get him to be a therapy dog. I'm going to friend you, as I'd love to follow your and yoru dog's quest to CGC. ;-]

Your puppy is the brother of my puppy, Sheldon! We picked him up last week and from the litter you are referring to! Was he the littlest black boy from that litter? If so, we were deciding between him and Sheldon, he was such a sweetie! It's nice so see where one of Sheldon's littermates ended up!

I think the males are a bit more affectionate than the females. Our friends have a boy and he is always glued to them. Our Coco is from the same litter and she is sweet and affectionate but loves her space...only 5 minutes of snuggling on the bed and she down to her nice cool wall for sleeping!
Congratulations on your new pup! You will love having a doodle! They are amazing dogs and so much fun!

I agree Nancy... there has been many a discussion about which sex is more affectionate.  I can only speak from MY experiences.... my male GR was much more cuddly than Tori... she cuddles and loves, but only when SHE wants.  BUT LOVE her to pieces any way!
