Our Bella just seems to be so mature and soulful for such a young pup. She has expressions and looks into my eyes like she is trying to tell me something and at times I feel like I am so connected with her on some spiritual level.

She is so different from Murphy in that he is oblivious, (is it a male thing? No offense intended gentlemen) He is aloof and hardly ever looks me in the eye let alone stares into them. He is just now laying close to us at night and letting us cuddle with him and Bella just seems to know when and where I want her to be near me and has from the beginning.  I know the poop eating is troublesome, but even that is an instinct of a good mother dog.  I have a feeling she has had other lives here on earth before and maybe even has had her own pups. ( Read "A Dog's Purpose" by Bruce Cameron before you call the men with the straight jackets )

Loved that book, you are not crazy at all! My first doodle Houdini was an old soul. Achilles is just living in the moment!
That is perfect Anna, I think that describes Murphy perfectly, he just lives in the moment, or from one ball tossing to the next!
Kirby is an old soul, even though he is only 8 months old.  The first time he looked in to my eyes like that he was 8 weeks old, and it still gives me chills to think about it!  We now have lots of those moments.  I'm 53 years old and have had dogs all of my life, but this is the first time I have had such a deep and special connection.  I guess it depends entirely on the dog, not the sex, lol!

Yes Sue, I can see what you mean about Bella's eyes! There is so much depth to them!

The story of Tara and I meeting is a long one with many twists and turns, coincidences and synchronicities. Too long of a tale to tell here. But it left me knowing that she was fashioned somewhere (doodle heaven?) specifically to share some time with me and DH. There is definitely a strong spiritual aspect to our relationship.

Tara watches me all the time too. I decided earlier this week to teach her to "watch me" on command but I am having problems with it because she is always looking at me already!! I have to try to distract her away from me so I can ask her to watch me!! LOL!

If you believe that Bella has had other lives and you believe in reincarnation than perhaps you can believe that you two have shared lives before this life. Perhaps the strong sense of connection you feel with her was formed at that time?

I haven't read the book that you mentioned but it keeps being recommended to me (is it always YOU?? LOL!) Sounds like one I need to read.

Probably is me Ricki, I know I've mentioned it a few times on here. Good to see you are reading my posts. Lol.

I do think she and I have met before, and I've not known other dogs well in this lifetime, so maybe it's from another? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Bella is beautiful!  At times I think Murphy is an old soul, but then he acts like such a doofus.

I loved the book.

Your so right Sue. Our Lily does the same thing.

P.S. No offense taken  :-)

Sue, I have said that about Oliver many times.  He looks me in the eyes, and they are so expressive, he blows my mind.  He senses things that I can't believe that he is so sensitive.  Oh he can be goofy too, but their is something about this dog that I have never felt for another dog, and we have had several dogs over the years asnd I loved them too, but this is something else.  Even my DH feels it, and we love it...I have another dog here, Renny is 14 yrs old, and I love him dearly, and I know that he loves us, but it is different with Ollie, just different....
I loved that book ....... it reinforces what I've been thinking about for a long time, that possibly the people who are the smartest have been here the most times.  That every time we come back we learn more and some people have been coming for a long long time!
I think you are so right, I tell my kids that they will keep getting the same lessons in life until they get it right, whether it's in this life or the next.

Bella is, indeed, a beautiful "old soul" - such an expressive, soulful face.

When I posted this picture of Sedona on FaceBook, several of my friends commented that she is an "old soul".  When she wants or needs something, she generally communicates that by staring into our eyes, as if sending her thoughts telepathically.  We can't always get the message, but she'll persist in sending it...

Sedona is just beautiful and I love her little face and Bella has that same look. It is just so special. Do you live in Az?  I have to check your profile. We could get together sometime if you do.
