I know no one is going to change their dog's name, because a lot of thought went into the name you picked for your dog. I have noticed that a couple of dogs on DK now have aliases, so it got me thinking and I decided to post this question. If you were forced to change your dog's name, what would you chose this time around?
I was in the huge minority when I picked Fudge's name, but I still love it. My sister went on and on for days that it sounded too much like another word and would not let it drop. Luckily, I never listen to her and it annoyed me enough that I was sure my puppy would be named Fudge. I might even have told her to "fudge off". If I was forced to change her name, this time around I would go with Penny (because of her color) or Cookie (because I love the food names).
Fudge, Penny, or Cookie?
Vern's name was chosen by my husband and it fits him so perfectly. Know what I mean, Vern? It is actually Vernors after the Midwest Ginger Ale. However, it I had to change it, maybe Harland (after Colonel Sanders, because it reminds me of chicken and Vern is a big chicken) or Mac (which could be short for Macaroni or Mack Truck). I also love Noodle, but that was vetoed by my DH.
Vern, Harland, Mac, or Noodle??

I think that Vern & Fudge look like... well Vern & Fudge, but I could see Harland if Vern wore a black string tie and carried a cane.
Funny but Harlow's name did change. From the moment we knew she was going to be our until we picked up from the airport she was Lauren Bacall. Then somewhere between the airport and home (about an hour's drive) it was clear that she was not Lauren Bacall but Jean Harlow.
If I had to change Rooney's name, I think I would go with Hoover after the vacuum cleaner as he will eat ANYTHING off of the floor or yard. Then I'd get him a brother and name him Oreck. But I guess I stick with Rooney - I haven't seen another Rooney on DK or at daycare so I guess it is a bit different, like his coloring - so that makes him one of a kind ;) I sometimes call him Roo but mostly it is Rooney or Rooney Doodle. I love the names Fudge and Vern - totally fits.
I had a name 2 years before I had a doodle, I had never met another dog with that name and was a fan of the TV show. If I had to change his name now I would have to call him Mooch because when ever there is food around he is always trying to mooch some.
Somehow our doodles just seem to fit their names and it is hard to imagine them by any other name.
When I named my son Mark, I did not know any other Marks, when he started playing minor hockey there were 5 Marks on his team, all you had to yell was ' Go Mark ' and you pretty much had the team covered.
