You might want to search in Puppy Madness group.  I know there have been discussions on this.  Are you crating him or putting him in a harness?  It may help him to know where he is supposed to.  I buckle mine in, but never had issues with car sickness...  good luck!

Depends what is the cause of carsickness.  If it is motion sickness or anxiety ( car rides make him nervous).

In the Anxiety Group we have posted some methods to try for dogs who are really anxious and upset about car rides.  My girl was totally freaked about the rides.  She is now wagging at the dog if I say ride.

Here is what I tried:

If it is motion sickness there have been a few discussions about Dramamine and other medications that  help the dog.   Do a search. Off the top of my head I can't think of the other medications those with motion sickness are using.

If you are like us, we like to travel with the dogs.  It is frustrating.

Our older Doodle got carsick from the day we brought him home.  Our Vet prescribed an anti-nausea med which we gave him an hour before a car trip, and it worked great.  He eventually outgrew it when he was around 14 mos.  Good luck!
Do you happen to know the name of the medicine?  Before our trip to Tennessee from Jersey I think we will need to give our Stella some type of meds and I'm always leery about taking/giving medicine so any specifics would be great!  =)
Our Sydney Doodle has always gotten car sick on longer rides.  Our vet suggested "less drowsy, dramamine", 25 mg".  We give her a half of the pill about 30 minutes to an hour before we make our trip.  Another vet suggested bonine (she felt it was better than dramamine).  We also read that ginger can help with nausea but we have not tried that.
One of my doods gets carsick.......extremely carsick...If she is in for any longer than an hour she throws up....If it's less than that she just drools a lot all over our new car seats.  We are traveling to TN this summer (a 12 hour trip at least from NJ) so I am very interested in some of these responses as well!
My dog got carsick for the beginning,  but at first only when he was in the back cargo area.  So i put him in the back seat, and to be honest even the front a few times.  ideally with person to distract him. all windows open and he stopped getting sick,  then a month or so after the vomitting stopped,  tried him in the back again.  He now loves the car and loves his tiny little cargo area in the back of a mini cooper.
Although I'm not a dog, I get horribly motion sick. Facing forward and getting some air help tremendously. I will get sick very quickly if I'm sitting backwards (like in a train or bus). This may not be feasible, but I'm also much less likely to get sick if I'm in the front seat. A lot of kids outgrow motion sickness, so hopefully your puppy will eventually as well. Good luck.
Our doodle got carsick as a puppy; now that he is almost two he has outgrown it.  I have heard it is a puppy thing.  I do make a point of not feeding him right before we go on a longer ride though.  We had a few "interesting" experiences when he was little.  One that my daughter is still traumatized over!  Lol!
