Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We planted some fruit trees last fall.  They are just starting to blossom and we were outside admiring them.  Now, I thought I was clever and I enclosed the trees in our new "doggy yard".  Figured that they would be protected from the deer but I never thought about the doodle.

The bark was stripped and the little tree chewed and it looked fresh, like it happened today.  We were really puzzled about this until Charlotte walked over and started nibbling on the trunk!

We think one tree will die and the other is 50/50.  Tree murdering doodle.  Soon it will be HER mugshot posted next to Fudge and Vern's.  Bad doodle, bad, bad doodle!

Oh Jennifer - sorry for your trees but this was too funny!  I'd like to see the Charlotte mug shot and the abused trees!  LOL.

Oh, when L&S were puppies they chewed a 4' rose of sharon down to about 2 inches.  I was working in the yard and wasn't watching closely enough and they were just having a buffet!  That first year was rough.  They aren't as bad now, but will occasionally get a hold of a bush or tree.  If you have a chewer of the outdoor type, be sure you don't have anything poison in your yard.
We had a puppy that pulled out our newly planted birch trees repeatedly. He was a naughty puppy but turned out to be a real sweetheart. Good luck with Charlotte. No good suggestions. sorry. Owen is a very naughty puppy, too. We just don't happen to have any new trees. phew!
Oh boy....Fudge and Vern are going to have company in the slammer.
Hahahaha! That's it. Owen's hittin' the slammer, too!
Birch trees ahhhhh where to begin.........my husband thought it would be nice to plant river birch trees in the yard well need I say I had to replace it 3 times. Molly thought it was a toy everytime the wind blew she would attack it and tear it apart twig by twig. Sooo I bought a fence to put around it to try and give it a chance and because I was tired of replacing it. Well it's doing pretty good now two years later and we took the fence away from it last year. NOW Molly and or Bailee has taken a liking to our red leaf maple tree in the far back corner of our yard. The lower branches which are a good 3-4 feet of the ground are missing except for about 4 inches of them. I'm not sure who is guilty yet but I am positive it's a doodle and not a beaver. All I can say is good luck I just think doodles have a thing for trees.
My Cooper does this too.  We had to put "fences" around all of the trees in the backyard to protect them from our "tree-murdering doodle".   LOL!  Hopefully, they will outgrow this and learn better.   Cooper is very slowly learning to leave sticks alone while we are walking.   He only gets them when we get to our next door neighbor's yard now.  Otherwise we would be all day trying to get our walk done!   Doesn't seem to matter what the wood is, I think they like the crunch!

I wish I had found this site last year.  This is so reassuring.  We were beginning to think that Malley was part goat.

Well, while reading these comments, I was feeling pretty good about my darling doodles -- in the last seven months of being a doodle mom, no tree fatalities.  However, after giving it some thought, I must admit that there is a small section of chewed baseboard in my family room, courtesy of Dexter Doodle -- hardly noticeable.  And now the legs on one of my dining room chairs looks a bit more, shall we say, rustic due to the little toofies of Wrigley Doodle.  Maybe they're trying to tell me something about mom's decorating style.  Decorating Doodles????  I dunno....
We hereby find the defendant : GUILTY
Adorably cute and naughty. love this.
