I have a few Daylily pictures I would like to share. If anyone else has any I would love to see them.

This is the Lemon Daylily

I'm sorry, I wish I knew all the names but I don't.

Wow, these are day lillies? They are beautiful!!
Daylilies are among my favorites because they require almost no care and are so beautiful and varied. And they are not toxic. Could one ask for more, well yes, I wish the flowers lasted longer since they fade in one day inside and out.

On the "toxic plants" page it lists their bulbs as toxic - does anyone know about roots?

Luna has an obsession with eating day lily roots.  I'm dreading having to remove them - I removed some last year and they just popped right back up again! The day lilies we have in our garden are a local wild variety (orange), not very exciting so I didn't want them everywhere.

The daylilies, Hemerocallis, have tuberous roots not bulbs and they are not listed as toxic as far as I know. Lilies, Lilium are toxic.

Ah, makes sense.

I do have to dig up the lily of the valley though!  Those for sure are toxic.

I think some of the confusion arises from the fact that what I call tiger lilies are the orange daylilies you describe. But some of the toxic plant lists talk about tiger lilies which are spotted orange lilies of the real lilium family.

Yeah they aren't those ones :)  They're the daylilies with the leaves coming from a central point around the base of the plant.

The local wild daylilies look like this:

Yes, I have a bed on the far side of my house like this : ) Makes life easy and they are mixed with ferns. It's all very low maintenance.
Go back a few pages to #2 and you will see some of F's day lilies and some of my So. Cal day lilies.
Wow, are these in your yard because they are absolutely beautiful!

Now that I know they're not toxic - I may plant some more this Spring!  Our poor little garden is rather sparse.

Orange daylilies grow wild around here and we already have some of those... I was thinking red or red/orange bicolor, but we'll have to see what's available.  Not everything is hardy here with the 5-6 month winter!
