My four month old Goldendoodle Lily has the worst smelling poo you can imagine!  If she has an accident in the house you will know in a matter of minutes as the smell travels thru the entire house.

The odor will linger in the air making your eye's water.  This has been since she was 8 weeks old when we got her.  Lucky for her she is so cute!  We use Nutro Natural Choice for her food.  Anyone have any answers for this problem?  I can't breathe!

Well, I don't know how to compare stink - lol - but Charlotte's can be very potent.  She is 9 months old so messes are few and far between but I remember the puppy poo clearly.  There were times that I would wait a few minutes to clean the mess just to let a little of the stink ease.  I feel your pain, fortunately, I can't smell it :-)
We have a rainy day here so spending much time outside is not going to happen.  I just wondered if it could be the dog food causing her to have stink butt!  I know this will end soon as she is doing quite well going outside with a few oops, but not often!
Hi Amy,

You may want to post on the food group and I believe there is a poop group as well. My puppy, Bailey, is on Fromm Four Star Chicken A La Veg and Duck & Sweet Potato (for all life stages) and Bailey's poo stinks but is not at all offensive. It could be Lily's food. But I am not at all a food expert, so I recommend you go to the groups suggested as there are some very knowledgeable people on the food group.

Keep us posted on what you find out!

Hi Amy,

I also use Fromm Four Star Nutritionals, and mainly the Pork and Apple Sauce and Duck and Sweet Potato flavors. Barley used to have stinky, loose poops. The Fromm Four Star line seemed to help make his poop more solid and less stinky--a win-win! Also, Barley never farts. I don't know if that has anything to do with the food, but I second Melissa's Fromm  recommendation.

Best of luck!

I suspect it's often food-related (although probably not always). I know that Lachlan's currently on California Natural and his farts are are enough to make me wish for a gas mask. Currently switching him to Taste of the Wild, so hopefully that'll help a bit.

(We won't even START on Pixel's farts, whew-doggy! He's getting a food change too.Cat lounges on his perch next to my computer chair and I know exactly what you mean by eye-watering!)
Oh - the GAS!!!  Webster can clear a room!!!
I know I shouldn't say this.... I'll probably jinx myself... tori NEVER has gas, and her poop just smells like well.... poop!  LOL  It only really smells as soon as it comes out and then not really any longer.  It's not that potent.  I  DO think it is the food she's eating.  We give Tori Nature's recipe Easily to digest - chicken.  She does really well on it - I also mix it with a bit of pumpkin to help her sensitive tummy...   Maybe try a new food or buy a bag of clothespins!  LOL   good luck.

I hear y'all. Izzy is on Orijen and her gas will clear the room. But Lucca has no problems. Must be individual dogs. So, in reading these posts...even high quality food does it too!!!

Amy, definitely join the food group. They have a list of recommended nutritional foods. Nutro is not one of them. It's really best to get Lily on a good food.

All three dogs are on Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream (protein is salmon). The two doodles rarely have gas and are not overly stinky...but I mean it IS poop! ;-) Also...it might be something in treats that can cause the problem.  Happy Tails has a product called Dog Smog that you can put in your dog's water to improve breath and eliminate gas. We sell a ton of it at my store! :-)

when my puppy arrived the breeder had pills for her because she thought she had gotten some parasites from standing water from all the rain. her poop was really smelly at first but after a week her poop is more solid and has very little smell. i don't know much about how diet effects poop but other than looking at diet it might be worth talking to a veterinarian?
I feel your pain in stools and gas!!!!  :(
