Darwin is turning nine months old soon, and we have made the switch over from Eagle Pack, to Eagle Pack Holistic Select. We picked up the adult formula chicken and rice... but now I am wondering if it might have been too soon. He is doing great on it, and hasn't had any problems with the transition. But is nine months too young to feed adult formulas, or does it not really matter?

Thanks for the help Karen....I will check with our vet.  On the same topic, if he needs approx. 1000 cals. a day how do treats factor into that.  On a daily basis he usually gets a couple of mini Mother Hubbard bones (if he needs to be crated) and either one string cheese, a handful of Wellness jerky or Zukes mini's naturals (all cut into small bits) for training at home or during class time.  I do not want to over feed him....

Treats definitely have to figure into the total calories for the day as well. I'm not saying 700 k/cal worth of kibble (roughly 2 cups) is too little, in addition to the treats he gets. But to cut his caloric intake by more than 50% all at once is pretty radical. It's possible he was getting too much of the puppy food, but it's hard to know for sure. That's why I'd ask the vet for some guidance.
