I just really need some sleep!

Hi all. We've had our puppy since Friday. Friday and Saturday nights we had his crate in the kitchen, during which time none of us got any sleep. The next night we moved it to our room, and it was much, much better. However, this morning he needed to go out at 6, and was up for the day, and yesterday at 5:30 - up for the day. Needless to say, I am exhausted. I am home all day, so I am with him 24/7 currently. Any thoughts on getting a good night's sleep?

He didn't get up in the night last night, but the night before he needed to pee, and went right back down. In the morning I jump right up, because I feel if he's been quiet for quite a while, he's likely needing to pee, and see someone. :)

Patti cake is 9 weeks old now and last night, I went to bed at midnight and she slept until 6am First time ever. Her crate is right next to our bed and if I hear her rustling during the night I have gotten up and let her out. I make sure to exercise her in the yard before we all turn in and that wears her down and finishes her potty biz too. An idea would be to exercise her during the day for a good while then crate her up and take a nap! I have done that and as long as she can hear me next to her in her crate. Good Luck!

I'm so sorry I can't help you. My Finn sleeps like a log. He doesn't budge even when the breakfast tray is placed half on him...you'd think he didn't have a bladder...

I can say, Reilly we were very lucky. She was sleeping through the night from day one.. only when the past week when she wasnt feeling well she would get up to only have to go potty. As well when my parents went away for the weekend and I'd sleep on my parents room cause her bedtime box is in there, she was great and slept longer then she usually does.. but that was my fault keeping her up with the Phillies :) I think the box idea is probably one of the best, the crate she hates more then anything but she's learning what its for and as long as there is a treat in there she gets calm and is usually asleep until one of us return. But I must admit, first thing in the morning she just wants to be outside and play.

Sandy - I hope you have managed to get some sleep in the last couple of weeks... but this is NORMAL! My puppy did not sleep through the night until he was about 15 weeks old... and he still wakes up every morning around 5:15 (with a cheerful bark).

Yes, he has been sleeping better. I keep reminding myself that this is a phase, he is a puppy, and this too shall pass (along with the nipping and jumping....). :)
