Hondo was never a fighter.  He was not in a single altercation in his entire life, but he did wrestle with Groucho Too on our deck.  However, when they were out at a dog park or the beach and anyone got aggressive with Groucho Too, Hondo would come between them and give the other dog a strong body block.  Charlie said Hondo reminded him of a big old halfback.  This weekend, for the first time, I saw Groucho Too blocking for Harpo.  It was kind of like "my puppy, leave him alone" but he did get his message across.  Did he learn body blocking from Hondo, or is it something pretty normal for large dogs?  Hondo was over 100 pounds and Groucho Too is 90 pounds, so they are large dogs.

Well, Taquito blocks Peri from other dogs, which is comical because he is 6.5 pounds. But lots of dogs block their siblings/members of their pack. Taquito always has an eye on his little sister Peri. Like he could do a thing about it.  Need to catch that on camera....

I think that Hondo handed down the reins to Groucho Too and told him he is now the man in charge and to protect all future siblings.  I like that thought a lot.  It makes me smile!

Good for him! I doubt it has nothing to do with size because our 19lb doodle does the same thing!!!

I really don't know....but I think it's very sweet.
Gavin blocks visiting doodle Mylie from me.  I figured it was a jealousy thing - he dosen't want her getting my attention and pets.  Cute pack you have :)

Ginger, 6 months, has found a friend at the dog park...a 3 year old Husky, Molly.  The first time I saw the "block' I wasn't sure, but yep, it happened again and again.  Whenever any dog would get too rough with Ginger, Molly would trot over from where ever she was and stand in between the dog and Ginger.  It was very sweet!
