We took Ollie to the beach this past weekend. After that while doing his daily brushing I noticed two little bumps on Ollie's chest. My dh noticed them when he was rubbing Ollie's chest too. He asked me what they were and I confidently answered...Nipples...yes dh, boy dogs have them too. Then he got a bath a couple of days ago and during his post bath brushing I noticed they were a bit larger. I figured that maybe his hormones are raging and some strange changes may happen in his body (he is 8 months old) so I decided to wait.
Today they were huge....more like huge skin tags!! I was alarmed. Ollie hates getting his chest and tummy brushed so with some bribing I got him to lay down on his back and carefully inspected the area.
Now is the part when I feel like a complete fool...
His "nipples" were not nipples at all but 2 mats in very strategic locations!! Dh and I laughed our heads off (dh with relief that Ollie was not turning into a girly doodle and me with relief that it was not some sinister hormonal ailment). He has never had mats before and I brush him every day. I guess the sea water and the bath made them get bigger. I painstakingly brushed one out. I will get the second one out tonight. :-)
Is this a start of the dreaded matting phase? Anything I can do to prevent it? Thank you.

I was very concerned as I was reading this because I was either wondering why Jack doesn't have nipples, or something is seriously wrong with your dog..
LMBO.. that is funny, It was recommended on this site to use Cowboy magic, I got it online it works pretty good at keep the tangles at bay.
