We brought Molly in for her monthly grooming (I have not attempted it yet because I am so afraid I will hurt her) with a bit of a twist. Molly's puppy coat kept getting longer and thicker that brushing her was becoming more of a chore for both me and her. I asked Julie to cut her down to 1" on the body and 1 1/4" on the legs and head, leaving the tail as is. I LOVE her new doo. Her coat is so soft, it feels like velour, and instead of long wild hair it is very wavy and close to her body. I read somewhere here about trimming down this short and I just wanted to thank whoever posted it. I think this will help with the transition of her adult coat coming in and will keep her cool during the summer months.
Molly looks super. Rua was panting last night (we had a 100 degree day) and as much as I love her shaggy look, I might just have to trim her down a bit to cool her off.
Oh! I'm so glad I ran into this post!! I love your Mollys new do! My Molly (great minds think alike!) has pretty much the same kind of coat, but she's black with a white patch on her chest-so she REALLY gets hot, and I think she would look great with the same cut. If you don't mind, I may print out a picture of your Molly to take to my groomers.
My Molly is 5 months old, how old is yours?
I love it that our puppy's have the same name ♥ Molly is 5 months old as well. Their coat's are very similar and I wouldn't mind at all if you printed out the picture. I really do love her new doo and her brushing is so much more pleasurable for both of us. I don't know what her adult coat will be like but I really like this look. Your Molly is absolutely adorable and is the first shepadoodle I have ever seen. Just gorgeous!!
