Kong help...

So I gave in and purchased a kong... I thought $14 was a bit much for a dog toy, but definitely worth the hours of enjoyment it promised.  Not so much :( haha not only did he much prefer the $3 toy, but he went out of his way to avoid the Kong.  He didn't like the peanut butter in it...what?? No peanut butter...I'm shocked!  Does anyone else's dog hate peanut butter? Any ideas what else I can try? He's 4 months old if that helps.  He was so upset with me for trying to get him to try the peanut butter!

OMG my girls love peanut butter (we use it for meds).  You might try some yogurt and freeze it!  You could mix in some treats or something with it.  Just experiment with different things until you find his favorite.  My girls could care less about the Kong unless it has something in it, but peanut butter has so many calories.  They also have like those spray cheese things (I think Kong makes a version).

Wow...my dogs go nuts for peanut butter. You can put your kibble in there, wet it and then freeze it.

Did you freeze the peanut butter in the kong?  Rooney likes it frozen but could care less if it is not.

Mine could care less about a kong, unless I throw it. Just a very expensive fetch ball. Have you thought about a raw marrow bone?

I had to take KoKo's Kong toy away from her just the other day because she decided it was food.  She is so bad at eating everything I'm afraid she's going to have some sort of a blockage.  She will eat anything and everything.  So yes she loves peanut butter, socks, underwear, toy stuffing, shoes, furniture, baseboards, money, rocks and bitter spray.   My advice to you - patience.  They do outgrow chewing (please), at least our other two doodles did but this one is so different I can only pray and cross my fingers.

Hi! The kong toys are the only one that shaggy and scappy can't destroy!! Haha. My dogs love peanut butter,that is what I use sometimes to give pills. I have only put solid treats in the kongs and they love it. They play with the kongs empty most of the time. Have a great day!

Yep, go figure!!!!! Won't eat peanut butter, cheese, yogurt, pumpkin, or any kind of plant food...but begs for lima beans! Crazy dog.

I have put in low fat, real sugar vanilla yogurt and frozen it in the Kong.  Mine like that quite a bit.  But MOSTLY what I did was just put their kibble in the kong for meals while they were puppies.  I used 2-3 kongs for each meal (they hold about 1/3 cup each).  Sometimes large size treats that you can juuuuuust baaarely squeeze through the hole because then that keeps them working hard to get it out.  My kongs now are yard decorations that are hardly touched.  I just don't use them anymore.
