My doodle went in for a little trim and they scalped him. I am sick to my stomach

I am sorry for your pain. They once used a trimmer and cut all the hair off my doodles nose.

All that was left was black poodle pigment-bit at least that grew back fast, so hopefully

yours will too!! Guess it happens to all of us at some point.

I guess it would seen like forever.  Levi is soooo cute it's hard to believe he could look bad in any cut.

I think this is why most of us ended up on this site....I know that's why i did! Magic was shaved  when I told them to keep him fluffy. His nose had little beads of blood on it they shaved so close and his legs were so skinny. After a month he looked great again. Short, but nice. I have just started grooming him myself - scary at first, but now at least I know how he will look!! It took getting the right tools (didn't work first time I tried) but yesterday was my first full 'groom' after I got my better clippers, and I think he looks just fine! Little choppy LOL....but not naked! I feel your pain - I almost cried when I picked him up after his groom. If you can't find a groomer you trust, you might want to give it a try - it was actually kind of fun once I got better clippers!! Lots of good advice here.....could not have done it without them!!!

So sorry for your bad experience...but it does grow back fast.....and a lot less brushing!!!!

I feel your pain! I was mortified when the groomer shaved Toby. He went in with gorgeous (albeit slightly matted) locks and came out looking like a plucked chicken. *gasp* (The skin around his privates looked so irritated!) In about 3 weeks he will look much better (or maybe you just get used to it a bit), and in about 2-3 months he will look really, really cute. Try to think of it as a "summer" haircut. Just make sure he doesn't get sunburned!
Now you know why many of us have started to groom our dogs ourselves!  I figured I couldn't do any worse, and it all does grow back pretty quickly.
Yes, I will do this myself from now on... I only wanted the private area trimmed ad the nails, plus an evening of the face, but they did a lot more

I hope you didn't pay them! they didn't do what they were supposed to do. plus the blood on his nose is unforgivable. And if they said "it will grow out" I would have to hold back as not to smack them.

I hear this so much about Doodles going in for a grooming and coming out all 'nekkid'. I groom my girls myself and have made plenty mistakes but not like this.

Since there is no standard cut for Doodles, you have to decide what you want and bring in LOTS of pictures, written instructions and make sure there isn't ONE mat. That is the usual excuse..."he was so matted....".

I'll post pix later of the binder I take in when I have had Yarra groomed (maybe 5 times in almost as many years). Fortunately they have a lot of Doodle clients and always do a great job.

Hi, Sharon....

Levi is a cutie!  I've been there ... your stomach and emotions will settle and the hair will grow back.  Give him some extra hugs and kisses and you will be too preoccupied to notice his shorter do ...  I will tell you that it gives me extra motivation to stay ahead of the matt,s as LiliBear has been shaved down before due to my poor grooming habits... there are a few benefits to shorter hairdos ... easier to apply flea protection, easier to spot a flea, easier to prevent matts, quicker to dry and less mud to track in ...

The hair will come back soon ,,,

Honestly, it will take about 6 months....BUT....as it grows day by day, it will start looking better. This is a typical experience when you take your Doodle in to be groomed and I hate reading about it. It shouldn't happen. The best thing to do if you're going to have him groomed is to collect pictures of cuts you like (Doodles with the same type of coat)...lots of pictures, especially the face, and write out instructions, put it in a binder and discuss it WITH the groomer. Don't just leave it assuming they'll read it.
Levi is so adorable.  That is terrible. I do hope you didn't pay for that.  They should be paying you!!!  BTW it's ok to post a picture of him, we won't love him any less.
It took about 6 months, what a cutie-he'll be fuzzy soon enough.
Poor kiddo.  I'm with the "think of it as a summer cut" crew.  I did the same with my dog, but the groomer did a beautiful job. He's not skinned, but he's really short.  My husband's not as happy about it as I am. I do think poor Sam looks a little bit over-groomed, but I also know that in a few weeks, he'll be grown in quite a bit. In the meantime, easy brushing for me!  Hang in there.  Pup will look great in a few weeks.  :-)
