Doodles that think they are great hunters

I saw the thread a few days ago about a snake hunting lab and doodle pair... and it got me thinking - I wonder how many of our doodles fancy themselves as great hunters?

 

List the things your doodle likes to hunt!

 

Luna has stalked/hunted things since we got her.  A short list of things Luna stalks and/or tries to catch (or does catch):

 

- Us (she stalks me while we're playing)

- Her toys (usually when she's tired, she will stalk instead of running after the toys)

- Anything that flies (bees, birds, houseflies, bits of fluff in the air, leaves)

- Ants (she stalks/eats these on the patio)

Maybe he is protecting you from those ferocious bunnies!! LOL!

Loved the video. I love how she stalks her prey..LOL! I think our Fudge could be a hunting dog and sometimes I think she is part bloodhound. Vern basically follows Fudge's lead and smells where she smells.

Our Chase would make an awesome hunting dog!  Both of our LDs will hunt rabbits, squirrenls, and chipmonks.  Chase also goes after the deer if we aren't careful - even through the wireless fence.  Chase's forte is using his nose though.  He quaters the ground searching for his ball if he didn't see where we threw it, and he can track us anywhere.  My husband goes off into the forest, we give him a few minutes head start, and lays a trail even trying to confuse Chase by doubling back etc.  I release him to "find Dave" and off he goes - nose down and tail wagging!!  He finds my husband so fast, every time!  i keep thinking maybe we should train him as a Search and Rescue dog!!

Wow that is so cool Stella!   It DOES sound like Chase would make an awesome rescue dog!!

The trainer from Luna's basic obedience told us she would probably enjoy scenting.  She is strongly motivated to find things and has a great memory!  Still unsure if we want to sign her up though - we have to work on her recall for sure first.

[Clifford, Cloud, Jake..and Kim]

It's all about squirrels at our house...unless a bunny decides to wander into our yard.  Cloud will hunt Clifford when he wants to interest him in playing.  Sadly, they managed to get a squirrel a few weeks ago and now their instinct seems even stronger - walking in the morning when the squirrels are everywhere is quite a challenge!

I love the video. Luna is such a hunter.

Alas, Murphy is not much of a hunter. If he sees something unusual, he alerts Blair the cat and she takes care of it..snakes, bugs, lizards. She is definitely a hunter, Murphy, not so much.

He may not be a hunter but it sounds like Murphy is great at delegating!

[Sherri, Sophie, Winston, & Kitty]

Sophie loves to hunt the cat. When she gets her, she smothers her face in sloppy kisses. Thank goodness Sophie doesn't have to hunt for food, or else she'd be one hungry dood. OMD....she really is a stalker!  My guys just run as fast as they can toward whatever it is they're after....they have none of Luna's finesse.

Yeah I really need to take a video of her current stalking... she stalks me from all the way down the hallway, it's pretty funny!
