Today I saw just the cutest collar and matching leash and of course I had to get it for Rooney.  I bring it home and really start to notice that his "collection" is getting pretty big.  I think I may have a problem.  I mean how many collars with matching leashes does a stylish dog need?  LOL On Rooney the collar isn't too visible due to his hair so having the matching leash is crucial - right?  I think Rooney has at least 12 sets - how many is too many?  How many do you have?

STOP THE MADNESS!!!!  For all of you that have sent me new web sites to further my addiction - stop.  I've been burning up the credit card this a.m.  I need help!  LOL!

O.K. - I'm busted!!!!  And I had myself never seen the similarities but yes - I AM A PURSE AND SHOE ADDICT.  Therefore it makes sense that I am now addicted to collars/leashes.  Is there a support group for this?

Just keep with the collars and leashes and stop with the purse and shoes.  JUST think how many collar/leash sets you could get instead of buying matching purse/shoes.

Hello, my name is Lucy and Sophie's Mom and I am a collar addict.  I have been clean now for well, maybe about 3 months.  I like to think I'm doing better.  We have a drawer full.  I have many different training collars, several sets of matching collars, and of course I always have to buy two sets of matching.  However the last time I bought them different sets ... I stepped out of the box a little.  I did however make sure there was a color in each one that matched that tied them together.   I even have a set that I designed and my Dad had made for the girls by his Amish harness maker.  I was driving his team of mules one had and said wow, this is the softest leather ever, does the harness guy make dog leashes.  Long story short, I ended up with a set of leashes with an extra loop at the end to use to pull them up short in crowded places.    Of course I had to go one step too far and ask if that leather came in pink .... if you are wondering too, no it doesn't and the Amish guy thinks I'm crazy.

Anther addict - finally!  So recovery is possible then?
I would have more collars and leashes...if DH did remind me that we already have a bucket full by the back door :-)
We keep the collar we first bought for her, on her at all times- it has her id tag on it-it's grey and pink. Her leash, that I walk her with, matches that collar-it has her potty bags attached to it. However, DH refuses to walk a dog with a pinkish leash, so he has a solid black one that he uses when he walks her. We have a handful of other collars and leashes that we hardly ever use, but we keep them- just in case. However, I really do need to take them to the humane society, they would get better use from them.

I'm looking into getting another type of training collar- gentle lead or the canny collar...but we don't have one yet. I had the easy walker or something like that and it didn't work worth a darn, so it went back. We do use a pinch collar when we take her out, but it just goes on beside her pretty pink grey collar.
I don't think you can have too many.  They are the only accessories that a naked doodle can have, so they may as well have a bunch.  I've used Halas' extra leashes and collars to set up emergency stations around the house.  We have a leash and collar hanging by both doors to the house, and also upstairs in my room.  That way, if I ever need to get out of the house in a hurry, I have a collar and leash handy for Halas.  So, if you need an excuse, just say they are all for emergencies.
My upstairs leashes really are for emergencies.
Good idea, Leslie. I never thought of keeping leashes anywhere but where I keep all of the dog supplies at home.  In the RV, the leashes are by the door so that they are handy for everyday as well as emergencies.  I never thought of it for home.
Well, obviously I need some more, because I took Vern and Fudge on a walk recently (drove to the park) and forgot both leashes and poop bags. How does that happen?? This reminds me of my DH. I hang pictures...lots of pictures...and every time I add a new one, I ask my DH, "Is this too much?" and he always says, "It was too much a long time ago :)" Too each his own. If you like buying Rooney collars and leashes, I say ENJOY!!
OMG - I thought I was the only one with a colar and leash obsession !!!  Thank God I am not alone.  I have two doodles and my collection is quite large.  Every time I see something really cool I have to buy it.  Unfortunately my doodles cannot share because Oliver is much bigger than Sasha.  My dogs have theme colors - yeah I know its sick !!!  Sasha's colors are purple and pink and Oliver's colors are lime green, aqua, and terquise (he is black and those colors really pop on him).  The more manufacturers keep on coming out with new, cool stuff the more I will keep buying !!!!  I'm a sucker for all that stuff.   So don't feel bad you are not alone :)

I also must confess. I am a leash and collar addict. I don't know why because you obviously can't see collars on Huff. Huff has about 4 collars- one blue camo one that I bought because it supports the U.S. Navy and my grandpa was in the Navy... okay, and it was cute. haha:) He has a kind of rusty orange nylon one that is just plain. He has a 1 1/2 inch crocodile leather With his name on it pictured here...

And he just recently got a thin leather choke collar (about 5/8 inch) because my mom says that he will probably get hot wearing his big leather one. I am thinking maybe we should get a rolled leather collar because this thin leather one mats his neck really badly. Do rolled leather collars really work for matting?

He has a lot of leashes. He has an EZY Dog green Mongrel leash with the extension. We use this one when we go out to petsmart or something. It is short and is like a bungee cord so if he pulls, it bungees him back and your hand can't get stuck in the handle when he pulls because it is like the handle of a water skiing rope. He has a brown leather one with rhinestones on the end of it it is 6 ft. He has a crocodile leather one to match his collar. It is about 5 feet long. I like it because the leather is soft and it is kind of like medium length so that is nice. I think the crocodile leather one is my favorite one of all. He also has a 2ft leather leash we hardly ever use. We have a red retractable one that extends to 16 ft. He has a blue camo nylon one that is almost chewed in half. and the last one is bright neon orange and it is like nylon but in a plastic casing so it is water proof and it is good for going to the beach but Huff never gets to go to the beach so he just uses it to drag around the shop in case we have to stop him quickly for some reason. So he already has his leash on. 7 leashes! Even I am surprised. haha The only reason I don't have more collars is because my dad won't let me get any more. hahaha:) So so sorry for the long post. I am a leash and collar addict...

For dogs that mat from wearing collars, rolled leather is the best I have found.  It causes little to no matting,.
