Gavin was outside for his morning routine and came back in with what looks like two puncture holes on his nose up near his eyes. Does this look like some type of a bite? I cleaned it up with peroxide and he is already on anti-biotics (which he is on for an extended period to a reoccurance of fever and elevated white blood cells a few weeks ago) and we have a vet appointment for tomorrow morning for blood tests. Anything else I should be doing? Energy is normal and he did not struggle when I dressed the wound.
Not great pictures but...
UPDATE!
So just got back from the vet and Gavin now has a poodle nose (got shaved down). The vet though that a scratch from the fence was most likely. He may have even done it in response to a bite - to try and scratch his itch. As you can see he has a couple of other marks lower on his nose too. They were not very deep once the nose was shaved. It looks worse than it is really.
For those of you that have been following our "fever of unknown origin" saga, It looks like a lingering kidney infection was the problem. Two weeks on anti-biotics and the white blood cell count and temp are back to normal. Urine is much better, but still a little protien. He also gained two pounds - yeh! We are doing two more weeks of anti-biotics and a follow up test to be sure. So hopefully we are good and are leaving for a week at the cottage this afternoon. Whew!

In the picture those absolutely look like puncture wounds from another animal! Take him to the vet immediately. You don't know what bit him. What kind of wildlife do you have near you? We live in a major city but have raccoons, skunks and coyotes.
Even though he's on antibiotics, I would go to the vet. Its also a good idea to contact the Red Cross and sign up for a pet First Aid class.
I hope he's OK. I know how we worry about our babies.
I agree with Lindsey that he might have been over zealous in poking his snout somewhere. To be really sure take Gavin out with you and then you can see for sure if it's a match. If some type of animal had bitten him I think you would have heard some kind of commotion and barking. Gavin we're sorry you haven't been feeling well, feel better soon please.
Yes it does and guess what - Daisy came home from Daycare today with the same wound on her back....nobody saw anything of course. I am so upset.
Cleaned it out with H. Peroxide and then put neosporin on it...she can't lick it cause of where it is. Tomorrow I will take her to the Vet if I think it looks worse, unless someone thinks I should anyway. It did not seem to bother her at all when I took care of it.
