Well, black puppy now has a name besides Bear or Pup. Its Finnegan. Or Finn. (Thanks BruceGirl.)

Finn weighs 10 lbs now (up from 7 on the 1st.)  I am picking up a DNA test kit today. Any guesses are welcome as to his paternity.

The person who was interested in him told me she had a huge back yard. I explained to her that this is New Orleans and the current temperatures are 100. A BLACK dog cannot stay outside in that heat.

She said he could come in at night.  She is off the list.

There is someone else who may be interested but my requirements are steadily increasing.

Oh MY GOSH...I want him sooo badly. SOOO glad you don't live near me!! lol.

He is a doll baby and I love that you said "She's off the list" so matter-of-factly, lol. GOOD FOR YOU!!!
So adorable.  I'd be in trouble if he were here.  I have no guesses but it sounds like he is settling in.  'i love the pic og him laying on murphys leg and with his chin on the sofa.
Oh, boy!  Little Finn has to be one of the cutest ever puppies!  Well, guess I say that about lots of puppies, but he sure is a cutie.  Glad you didn't let him go to somebody who would have him living outside.
Uh-oh......if your adoption requirements are steadily increasing that can only mean one thing......I know this because we found a little puppy who we were trying to find a home for, and never found someone who met all the requirements for adopting.  When she died 9 1/2 years later, we realized that God had put her in our family because she was what we needed (even though she was not "our" type of dog).  :-)
OMG! That picture of the three of them on the couch is MELTING me!!! So sweet!!!  Thanks so much for being so caring and responsible with this little guy. I hope he finds his loving forever home very soon...or has he??.....hmmm....
I once had a lover called Finn!!  This Finn is so sweet and he is going to get a great home. Imagine leaving a dog outside all day.  What is the point of having one in the first place.

Linda, you want someone who has experience with dogs and has a vet reference you can check for any current or past dogs. At the very least, you want to know if the dog is/was spayed or neutered, UTD on all routine vaccines, and HW tested and on preventatives. Ask what kind of flea/tick preventatives they use. Ask where the dog will be kept when they are not home, when they are on vacation, and when they are asleep. Ask what kind of housebreaking methods they use. Ask how long the dog would be left alone at any given time. Ask how they plan to make sure the dog gets enough exercise. Talk about the need for obedience training. Ask what kind of food they feed. Ask them to estimate the annual cost of having a large dog, including food, vet care, grooming,  training, equipment, toys and treats, training, any boarding that may be needed for vacations, to see if they really understand the kind of commitment they are making. Ask if anyone in the family has allergies. Ask what they will do if they are unable to keep him at any time.

Make sure that the person who will be primarily responsible for the dog really wants a dog for herself/himself, or if they want a puppy for the kids, or a companion for another pet. Every dog deserves a home where he is wanted for himself. There should be no expectations for the dog (i.e. he will be my son's best friend, he will become a therapy dog) other than that they just want a nice, reasonably well-behaved dog who will be part of the family, and they are willing to make a commitment to him for the rest of his life, no matter what.

Karen, These are all very important things to consider before allowing an adoption. It would be too much work for me, I'd just keep him!  :)
Karen, as always, thanks for all the info. I will definitely refer to this (or you) if I find someone.
That looks like one big happy family to me!
I'm so curious to see how this works out...
Finn looks like he thinks he has found his forever home & family.  Alice (cat) came to us accidently - someone dropped her off at our driveway one Fourth of July about 8 years ago.  I did not want another cat.  DH and I had Ollie our perfect "gentleman" cat who did not do good with anothr cat in the house (he hid) and Alice was a free spirit and would not stay inside. DH wanted to keep her so we put a cat door in the garage and another cat door between the garage and my craft studio.  Every night after dinner we went to my craft studio to watch TV and give Alice some quality time.  Alice loved DH but did not like me.  Last Fall Alice went to Rainbow Bridge.  We both miss her.  Alice came to us for a reason and I think you have Finn for a reason whether it is to find him his forever home or to be his forever home.  (I know I would not be able to give him up.)
