Is there such a thing?  I mean everyone thinks that their own children are cute but lets be real - sometimes you just see an ugly baby and of course the parents haven't got a clue.  So couldn't that be the case with doodles too?  Would you admit it if you thought your dood was homely?  I just did some up close looking at some of the 14 week old litter pups that came out of the same puppy mill as Stuart and I just hate to say it but they are not cute, at all.  So now I'm wondering if that is what Stuart might start to look like and of course I would still love him but I would have to admit that he wasn't "Quincy" in the least.

LOL.....Jane you are so funny!   Stuart looks like he's going to be very "Quincy"!    After the deposit was sent and we were a week away from getting Banjo we got THIS photo....and I will admit I was thinking..."OMG....his ears are too big...his legs are too short....he looks like a moose!"

What a darling photo of Banjo - His baby head is too big for his baby body - lol.

Seriously Carol, I don't see it! I have the same fat legs that Banjo does are you calling me a moose - ha ha

Certainly not Daisy.....You are one beautiful doodle girl!  No doodle in his right mind would call you a moose!
What ever Banjo looked like then, he has turned out to be one of the most handsome and cutest Doodles on DK!  He has always been one of my favorites!!!
SORRY, CAROL!  You could NEVER convince me that Banjo was not absolutely gorgeous ever!  LOL
Thank you Nancie and Shelly : )     He did turn out pretty darned cute!   When we finally did get him it was apparent he WAS a cutie.....the breeder never seemed to get very good pics of him and we DID worry!

I think Banjo looks adorable in this picture.   Nothing like a Moose.  hahaha!

Spud has the worst coat I have ever seen on a doodle.  He got the worst from the poodle and the golden.   Still, he is happy, entertaining, and a personality I've never had in a dog.  He is perfect except for his unkempt look. And if I ask to groom him he says NO, I;m just a dog, leave me alone.    I think I'll keep him   :)

P.S. as a puppy, he was adorable.  You just never know. Each doodle seems to be unique.  I love there is no standard in looks for these dogs.

Spud is darling - you guys aren't getting it - I'm talking about HOMELY.  LMAO - I'm sure I won't think Stuart is ugly but he might not be the cutest dog as he matures by looking at the other photos.  Of course those 14 week old puppies would have different parents right?

Right  :)

I thought some of those 14 week old puppies were cute. They have that shaggy "Disney dog" look, kind of like Jackdoodle.

When I first saw JD at the shelter, I thought he was one of the ugliest dogs I'd ever seen. Long skinny legs, big body with his rump higher than his shoulder, skinny curled up tail like an Afghan Hound, great big head, scruffy, stringy coat...it didn't help that he was also filthy. It took about 3 weeks and a couple of baths for me to notice that he had the cutest face of any dog I'd ever seen. I hadn't noticed those incredible soulful eyes or that prize-winning nose, or all those platinum highlights in his coat.

I think it's possible that some people who like the more doodle-y looking doodles think he's ugly, but I don't care. I already know I will never find another dog as cute as he is. And the sun and moon rise and set on him, in my eyes.
