Sue, They have discussed this topic before, but naturally I can't find any of the discussions to post :) We have a van. I will always have a van, even though my kids are grown. It just makes it easy for me and my dogs. I am pushing 200,000 miles, I did read that the Toyota Venza (which my DH has) is one of the best pet friendly SUV's. Comes with some pet friendly features. We did not know this when we bought the Venza and it doesn't matter, because he prefers the dogs to ride in my stinky Van.....LOL!
I drove the Ford Edge, the Toyota Venza, the Chevy Equinox,  the Hyundai and Jeep Patriot and Compass.  In the end I got a Subaru Outback. It is a cross-over, kind of.  Good mileage, good cargo space for two doodles, sun roof, navigation, leather seats, tinted windows, media center for your Ipod, AWD and 5 star crash ratings...  Subaru is very much into animal rescue, has a preserve for animals to live out their lives if they are not adoptable and everything from building the cars in the Louisiana  plant is recycled.  NO arrangement with a land fill.  They advertise that the Subaru is doggie tested and doggie approved.  I have had the car for a month and I like it.  I am not crazy about the 4 cylinders I got to get the mileage, but it really does get me where I need to go.  If gas were less expensive I would have gotten a 6cyl. but I really like 30-35 mpg on the road.  That beats the heck out of my Jeep with the  V8 Hemi engine!  Good luck in your search.  Post when you find one.

Here is one of them.  If you search under "Lexus" you will find some others.  I remembered that Jane and Rooney had just been looking and there were several postings.

hmmm I dunno, i just have a chevy cobalt sedan and Cooper does just fine on the back seat (a must have is back doors though) and it does GREAT mileage!
We literally just got back from the Ford dealership and I am in sticker shock over the price of an Expedition!  I currently drive a Suburban but my lease is up next month.  I need a huge car what with four children and huge backpacks, sports equipment and the doodle, of course.  I looked at the Flex while we were there--very cute plus it has three rows for the children but NO cargo area.  If I never had to food shop and I tethered Phoebe to the roof, it would work out.  LOL  :)  I detest car shopping!!!
Tell me about it!  It is worse than shoe shopping (which always puts me in a grumpy mood) for me.
I know what u mean about shoe shopping !! I can never find what I am looking for !!!! and in Green Bay there are not many choices so Zappos it is for me !
OMD, my heart just stopped reading this ...... Worse than Shoe Shopping?  I don't think I've ever heard those words come out of a woman's mouth and now I see two women that agree that Shoe Shopping is awful!  I don't even know what to say about that.  I thought that Shoe Shopping was the one thing that women always loved.  Even if you can't find the clothes that fit or look like we would like, I thought we could always find shoes!  I'm Sad for you!
OH  My you have it wrong  I like to shop for shoes,  it is just that in Green Bay WI there are not many places to shop, expect for  DSW.  I always go at the wrong time, to find some, But, When I go to CHicago to visit family I never have a problem.   PLus with my daughter not here now  it is not as much fun!
I bought two pairs of new shoes in Washington. I heart shoe shopping!!!

Well I have a Saturn Vue so I am of NO help - I do love it though!

Although I am told the Chevy Equinox is very similar in room and looks.

I love the Vue and it did come in a hybrid.  So sad they aren't being made anymore.
