Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I am soooo thrilled with the results of Jacks grooming. The place had a great feel for it when I went in there.. The lady owns the groom shop herself, and she has one person who does the washing.. Her children were running around playing with toys and she asked if Jack like kids. Jack got to play with the kiddos in between getting washed and cut.
She looked at all my pictures, listened to my horror stories of past grooming experience and I must have told her a million times, I am not looking for perfection, I am not looking to get the most for my money so you don't have to shave him down, I mostly want him to have a good experience so he can come back.
She had him fully ready in three hours, I walked in and Jack was playing with the kids. She said he barked his head off when I left but other then that he was fine. no clawing, no trouble or anything.
I am so happy with her. The haircut is perfect. Since I had been grooming Jack myself, I missed a lot of areas, one being in between his toes, so she had to do the poodle cut on his feet, she knew I didn't want it, but she couldn't do anything about it, I know his feet were bad..
My boy looks adorable.. I am not where I can post pictures right now but I will later.. She was very inexpensive and she was sweet. calm and she listened.!!!
Pictures to follow tonight
I have been grooming Jack myself for quite a while now. I am at the point where he needs a really good brush out.. I have taken the mats out myself, I have printed the instructions on a doodle cut. I have hand written instructions on what exactly I do and don't want.. and I am still nervous. I told the lady that I am looking for a long term relationship with a groomer, one that will love Jack and take care of him and in turn I will pay her well and tip her even better.. Yup I will bribe someone to do a good job.
.... Eek gads.. Hope I get my dog back tomorrow looking like a doodle and not a poodle.. or I am not paying this lady...
If I go to jail, someone please bail me out!!!!

I am going to a new groomer on Friday...Daisy's regular groomer had a 3 week wait, frankly I don't have the kind of time, actually her shop is so busy now it's horrible even for me to listen to the noise I can't imagine how the dogs feel + she is in the opposite direction from work.
So....I have been looking for a possible new one and after a few people recommended The Wizard of Paws I finally broke down and made an appointment. I am a nervous wreck, is Daisy going to like her, will she listen to my instructions, will she lovingly care for my girl.
Ugh, I wish I was not scissor shy, I would prefer to NOT do this again.
I will hope for the best for you and Jack if you do the same for me on Friday.
Thanks my issue with the groomers I have had is they are either so busy they are in such a hurry that the anxiety they have from trying to hurry bounces off of them on to Jack, Jack acts out, they get frustrated and it is a vicious cycle... or they have shaved him into a poodle.. Another big thing is he is only 12 or so pounds so I highly object to him being shoved in a crate with a dryer blowing on him... last time he was pinned to the corner because the wind was so high he couldn't move.
If I don't like the feel of the place I am not even going to leave him, I know me...
Bodi is getting groomed on Saturday by a new groomer. I couldn't get in to our normal groomer . . . so - I am a bit nervous too. But really Bodi has a beautiful cut - he just needs it shorter. That should not be too difficult, right??
I would love to see before and after pictures of Jack!!
