Hi everyone!  vcg

I picked up Bingley (7 1/2 weeks) yesterday and I love him to pieces! However, he is a handful and I knew he would be. I take him to potty what seems like 20,000 times a day and he is always trying to chew/ bite on my fingers and toes. I watch him like a hawk throughout the day. He is a sweet boy. All in all, I am just needing some encouragement to help work through it and wondering when this stage ends. Also I am worried that He will become this wild dog that I cant control and is poorly trained.

Thanks!

Thank you so much! It is a very hard decision to make! I will still be on here creeping on pictures and being jealous! haha!!!
Sounds like you've definitely made the right decision for both of you.  Is the breeder taking him back?  It is definitely a good thing you've realized it so quickly because it will be much easier than it would have been if you had him longer (even though it seems really hard now too I'm sure...)  There will come a time in your life when it will be perfect, but it does sound like now is not the time.  Very good decision!
I also think it was a good decision for both of you.  Puppies are a lot of work and you really are not going to have the time.  There will be times in your life when a puppy will fit in better to your life style and the time you have to spend with him.  We started with our doodles when we retired and it was great for all of us.
Lindsay, I think this is the best possible decision that you could have made at this point in your life.  One thing that I was thinking after reading your post (other than I'm glad you will be still checking in here because I think you can learn a lot of information for when the time is right in your life to add a new puppy), is that possibly you could honor your puppy by sharing your story with all of your friends and having them share the story with all of their friends.  That way many more college students would be aware that getting a puppy when one has such a busy life is probably not the best choice.  It does work for some, but as you have seen, it would be very difficult.  You were fortunate enough to be able to return your puppy to the breeder ...... however, many puppies are not so lucky and end up in kill shelters or crates for 20 hours a day.  Educating your friends would be an awesome way to honor your little puppy.
I was actually thinking that  at 52 I am just the right age to have a puppy lol  The last week has been amazing.  I knew absolutely what I was getting into.  We have been in the garden at 3am and again at 6.30 every morning and out every hour practically during the day and are doing great with training but I am putting a huge amount of time into him.  There is no way I could do this if I was a student again with a busy schedule and no one to help out.   This is the right decision for both of you and it's good that you have come to it now while there is time for this dog to find his forever home.  You will, when the time is right get yours.
Lindsey, your decision must be hard and heartbreaking.
But maybe all this research you have done, could be made to good use and with your love for dogs, you might be able to help someone/family out and walk a dog, dog sit etc. when your schedule suits, even as an added bit of income.
That way you may get some doggy love but not all the full on responsibility.
Best wishes.

Thank you all for making me feel better about this!!!

My breeder actually had a dog that she was re-homing. She is a one year old miniature poodle. She is so precious and doesnt need TONS of attention like a puppy does. My breeder suggested that I take her home for a few days to see if she would be a good fit for me and I LOVE HER!!!! She is so easy, she is potty trained, and just follows me and my mom around all the time!!! My whole family loves her! I am still sad that I had to give up my puppy but I think that Lily is such a good fit for me!!! She is just the sweetest little thing!!

Thank you all again for all the support!!
