Some day ..... after DH retires, this is where we are headed. The Doodle Country guys have gone there with their 4 doodles and had a great time.

Also check out Dog Friendly.com. They have a section for Dog Friendly beaches.
We have two off leash beaches in the Los Angeles area. One in Huntington Beach and one in Long Beach. Otherwise I have a Doodle Group who goes up to Cambria every year and stays on the beach at the Cambria Shores Inn where they only allow people because they bring dogs. LOL! There are two beaches we take the dogs to play off leash and lots of places to hike too. Pictures are in Cambria. http://cambriashores.com/
Dewey Beach, DE - the Doodles in Dewey romp in there every last weekend in April.
"One of the very few towns on the eastern seaboard to permit dogs to enjoy the sandy beach, Dewey has only a few restrictions on dog owners. The times the beach may be used by dogs is limited during the summer season (not permitted on the beach from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m), they must be under control, and of course the owners must clean up after them. Details can be found under "Beach Regulations." The Summer Season is the period beginning May 15 and ending September 15.".
Mansaquan, NJ - there is a small beach that is dog friendly 12 months with no restriction on times. The rangers have been coming out due to 'complaints' - the Rangers have been really nice saying that dogs can't off leash unless they are in the water. It is not, IMHO, a beach I would spend the day with the family but it seems that some families don't want to pay the beach fee for humans so they are using this beach.
Nantucket is a very dog friendly island.
The beaches in the Hamptons in Long Island, NY are also - during the season they can go before 9 am and after 6 pm. There are also a lot of Bays to bring them if the surf is too rough to play in.
