I got one for Ollie (our rescue) a few days after we brought him home and it really seemed to help him calm down.  He was afraid to go anywhere near my husband and within 5 minutes of him having it on, he simply wandered into the other room and laid down in front of my husband.  Ollie is very fearful of strangers (especially men) so anytime we are having company, I put it on him about 10 minutes before they get here and he seems to help him cope better.  I have already recommended it to a couple of random people that I ran into at Petsmart (they were looking at different pills and things to calm their dogs down on the 4th of july)  :)  Petsmart probably wasn't happy that I cost them a sale, but I would personally rather avoid extra meds and things when there are other options.
I work in a pet food and supply store and have sold many. We have a "take anything back at any time for any reason" policy..... I have never had one returned, so im assuming they work great!
I have been wondering about this also.  Cooper has a lot of anxiety when there is a storm or loud noises and I hate giving him Benadryl like the Vet suggested to try.   The Benadryl doesn't seem to kick in until the storm passes anyway.

Check out this discussion in regard to thundershirt.

I would love to know also-please update it on the use of it. Do most petstpres carry these or are they cheaper online?
I bought mine at a local pet supply store and they were the same price as online.

I have been using one for Wilson for about a month.  First of all, there was no acclimating him to the shirt.  He took right to it.  I made him feel special when he put it on (happy voice, treats).  I use Bach's Rescue Remedy (for humans) about an hour before an impending storm and I also put the shirt on him at the same time.  I have noticed an improvement.  It isn't a 100% cure, but it has cut his anxiety by about 50%.  He still wants to find a quiet, dark place but he isn't pacing and shaking.

So, I have put the Thundershirt on during a non-anxiety time and as he did with the Gentle Leader, he just stood there as if he was a statue.  I am thinking about taking the XL back and get the L.  I think the XL is too big for him.  And then I think I am going to use this when he goes to the new groomer.
Charlie has done well with his Thundershirt.  He is usually terrified of thunder and storms....shaking uncontrollably and panting very heavily.  I put the Thundershirt on him when it looks like it is going to storm or at the first sound of thunder.  He still wants to sit right on my feet, but he no longer shakes or pants so hard.  So, it is not a "cure" but it sure helps him alot.  Hope yours works for your doodle!
I just ordered one for Parker...I hope it gets here soon! He is great all the time except for when he's left alone...even if I just go out to check the mail!
I was actually just going to give you the link that Kyoko did... we have had this conversation before... The jury's still out with the effectiveness of the Thundershirt in this house.. so much so that I have NOT returned it for my refund (which they do).  Tori too is VERY afraid of strangers and barks furiously at them.  she is also afraid of driving in the car, but I really can't say that I see any difference in her with it on... maybe a bit (I guess I'm still hopeful - that's why I keep it.)  I DO notice that when we 'practice' with it in the house, she does quickly lay down and relax, but that's with no outside (or inside) stimuli.  GOOD LUCK!  I hope you have more success!  I know some do here!
