Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Today on The Doctors, there was a segment on Dog CPR that was very interesting and I thought I'd share with my DK friends. Hoping no one has the need to perform CPR but knowing the correct way to do it may save your doodles life...

This is a better way to get to the video. Look for featured videos and scroll to Pet CPR
You can also contact your local Red Cross and find out when they hold classes in Canine CPR. I took the class and it was great learning hands on and they sold a kit to carry in your car along with the human First Aid kit I hope everyone carries.
One of the coolest things they showed us was 'mouth to mouth' and a clever home made item to keep in your kit.
Find a soda bottle and cut it so that you have the pouring spout and a few inches of the bottle, enough to go over your dogs' snout snugly. You'll have to practice a bit until you find a bottle size where that cut off part fits over your dog's snout. Then wrap the cut edge with tape so it isn't sharp. Make sure the fit is snug and if ...G-d forbid....you need to do mouth to mouth, you have a proper too with which to do it.
Thanks for opening up this topic.
Thanks for the tip on the snout guard! Human CPR has changed some since many people would not perform due to worries about transmission of disease. There is also a human version...
We as doodle owners wouldn't hesitate...we are used to kisses!
Hope none of us ever have to use it but if one person learns it and saves their dog....
that's great to know thanks!
The resusci puppy looks somewhat like a doodle and my heart skips when I see it lifeless! I'm a nurse and have been thru numerous CPR certifications but the special puppy instructions can make a difference.
Thanks again for your added input.
