My closest friend was offered a whoodle - Can anyone tell me good or bad about this breed.

My girlfreind was just offered a whoodle to adopt, she has 2 children 14 & 9. I don't know much about them just that they are cute. Can anyone tell me their opinion or advise?

Didn't Tegan Park add Wheaton's to the Aussie LD line? Maybe it was Rutland. I remember reading in one of their websites. It was Irish Wheaton terriers. They did to balance out the coat and size. This was probably 5 years ago or so.

2 Irish water spaniels had been used in some early Australian lines. Maybe that's what you're thinking of. Some lines also used both English & American cocker spaniels and also curly coated retrievers. Wikipedia claims that soft coated wheaten terriers were also used in some early lines, but I cn't find any confirmation of that.

Nope, it was after the Water Spaniels. I remember reading a Post on the website that the Wheatens were being sold for $2000 instead of starting at $2500.This was back when they posted pricing and airfare cost.Their websites used to be very informative. Then Beverly (had to be Rutland Manor) posted a message that they were changing the site because "Americans" were "stealing" the breeding lines. That is when the whole Aussie Doodle and LD came apart and they left the ILDA. To start the ALDA.
Water Spaniels were added in the late 80's.

Boy, it really sounds complicated. I really don't know very much about the various Australian organizations, breeding programs, etc. My area of expertise is purebred breed characteristics. If the wheatens were used, maybe that explains some of the stubbornness you hear about in some of the doodles, LOL!
