Every year around this time, I'm struck by the way some of my perennials seem to put on their own fireworks show. I know that many actual fireworks displays are named for flowers, and at this time of the year, I can see why.

Here are a couple of photos I took last year around the 4th of July.

And a quieter burst of "stars":

How about you? Any fireworks going off in your garden?

I love your blue hydrangea, mine are pink...I heard I could change the acid content in my dirt to get blue but that seems far fetched.

I also have many Daylillies, and beautiful Lilies and Daisies galore....I have a very little space in our condo but the space if full. Black-eyed Susans are tall and buds but no flowering yet.

Maybe tomorrow I will actually take pictures of my little garden.

Everything is so beautiful.

We'd love to see your garden.

The hydrangea color change is not far fetched at all. It is absolutely true. Lime alkalinizes the soil and gives pink flowers while aluminum sulfate acidifies the soil and gives blue flowers. Here's a shrub where the soil must be just at the cusp of the necessary pH.

Oh Wow a purple.

Someone brought this beautiful cut flower to my daughters bridal shower from her garden, wonder what she used, there were pink, purple and green hydrangea.

I think the green ones might be a variety of hydrangea called Limelights.
They were gorgeous whatever they were.
Right. Limelight is chartreuse.
Not far fetched to turn you pink Hydrange blue, I did it one year by accident. I have two hydrangeas close together and in my ignorance put aluminum sulfate on both. They were both lovely and blue.

Great variety!

As of yesterday I had some red, white and blue in the garden.

Gorgeous! I love the clear red of the daylily, and that blue hydrangea!
Thanks.
I took this with my cell phone last night.
