Stuart was neutered Tuesday of this week, so it has only been 3 days.  He acts like nothing was done.  He is supposed to be on limited activity for 1-2 weeks and we aren't going to make it!  If I take him out to potty he gets the zoomies on the leash and is running and jumping all over.  If for some reason he gets out of his confinment in the kitchen he is off and running after Rooney - he wants to play!!!  He wears his cone to bed at night and his underwear during the day.  They say no bath or swimming for 2 weeks - we'll live with that by not letting him near the pool but how much activity can he really have right NOW?  I don't want Rooney getting rough and stepping on the incision by accident but Stuart is ready to rumble.

Jane, Vern was the same way. I never separated Vern and Fudge, but just made sure they did not get rough. Easier said than done. How about side by side walking to wear him out a little. Or maybe a marrow bone or bully stick, etc. to occupy him. I hated every minute of that neutering process, but Vern did great. You got yourself a winner with that little Stuart. His personality shines through in every picture.

Isn't he sweet.  I would say just do the best you can to keep him calm... Remington was the same way.  The day he came home he was back to his normal self.

P.S. Where do you get those holey balls!!!!  And do they last long?

Kendra, the holey rollers are available at Petsmart or Petco or Amazon. My dogs love them. My son put a tennis ball in it which I can't seem to get out:) but it's one of their favorite tug of war toys and very long lasting. We've had ours for almost 3 years now.

About 1 minute with Luca long ago. He loved it to pieces--literally!

Oh Jane this picture is so darn cute.  I love this guy!  I had to go back through my blogs to remember how long I kept my guys separated....it looks like about three days.  They absolutely HATED it.  Here's the link to Murph's "neuter blog"....sound familiar?  http://www.doodlekisses.com/profiles/blogs/murph-the-conehead
I have no idea but this photo of him is darling. Your story reminds me of my grandsons (5 and 2) except the neutering.
Cute photo of Stuart! Owen never paid any attention to his stitches and was his bouncy normal self the day after the surgery. By the third day we gave up trying to keep him quiet. Hope Stuart and Rooney get to play again soon.

Izzy was the same way but after a week she ended up with a seroma (fluid sac) from too much activity even though I did my best to keep her calm. I had her on Doggy tranquilizers (acepromazine) just to keep her calm for a week. It didn't put her to sleep, just mellowed her, a little!!! (I kind of liked it!!!:)) You really don't want those stitches or glue to open. Then it prolongs the healing process.

Oh Jane!  Look at that face!!  I've got this to look forward to within the next 4 mos.  I plan to neuter Jackson at 6 mos.  Did you do likewise with both Rooney and Stuart?
Oh, I feel for you.  Pippin was neutered last month.  He ended up wearing the cone all night and about 50 % of the time during the day (we left it off when he was supervised and as long as he wasn't licking excessively).  Pip was drowsy the day after the surgery, but then back to his normal self.  We took several short (10-15 minute) walks per day, went through many bully sticks, had him chase his holey roller ball in the kitchen (small space) and kept his activity reduced for a week.  After the week, back to normal length walks (30-45 minutes twice daily) but no "rumbles" with pals and no dog park for another week.  When we finally got to the dog park after 2 weeks, he went a little crazy.  There were several "zoomies" in the yard.  We let them happen but kept them short.  Pippin was back to enjoying water 21/2 weeks post op.  He had dissolvable stitches (gone at 1 week) but quite a bit of swelling/bruising which was gone by 21/2 weeks.  Stuart is a real sweetheart and love the shorts!
Stuart, you are so darn cute in those underwear!
