Hi guys we are in dire need of some help. As of early yesterday morning Bo has had diarrhea and uncontrolled urination. The only changes have been to his food, which we changed almost a week ago. We changed from Life's Abundance to Purina Puppy Chow. We made sure we mixed the two together until he was getting more of the Puppy Chow. He seemed fine...no vomiting, diarrhea or anything. This past Thur. we took him to stay at a kennel while we went out of town for 4 days. The night we picked him up is when the diarrhea and urinating started. It's so bad that he can't even make it outside to pee! We're getting a little worried and wondering if the people at the kennel gave him another kind of food. The bag of Puppy Chow we left with them didn't even seem to be used! It was a new bag and it still had about the same amount of food in it as when we left it with them. Have any of your doodles experienced this? What could it be? We're thinking of taking him to the vet tomorrow but I wanted to post here first to get some suggestions. I'm really worried about him...thanks.

Please get him to the vet ASAP - it sounds kind of serious & not really food related. I know when my last dog had a bladder/UTI he started peeing blood & of course I freaked out - don't want that to happen to you!! Give him hugs & please keep us posted!

Please take your puppy to the vet asap.  Puppies can get dehydrated so fast with diarrhea alone.  It is better to error on the safe side.

Good luck

Vet vet vet, sounds like it could have to do with the food.  Get Bo off Puppy Chow immediately (but after you take him to vet).
I hope you're able to get him into the vet today, and I hope he's feeling better soon.

Sorry if you are getting a lot of repeated information, but I would take your puppy to the vet as soon as possible. It sounds like your puppy may have picked up a UTI from the kennel. What were the conditions like there? The diarrhea could be caused by nerves. Maybe it was a noisy environment or something else happened to make your pup feel insecure. It could also be a food change like you suspect. Just in case your pup picked up a parasite at the kennel, I'd bring in both a stool and urine sample.

I know I'm repeating other people when I say that Purina Puppy Chow is an awful brand. You should look at the ingredients. A high quality protein should be listed first, and the food I use has about 23% to 24% protein. Have you ever heard of the Whole Dog Journal? It's a publication that I find trustworthy. They have a lot of good general articles about everything dog. They also review and rate different dog foods. I use Fromm which is a good holistic food. Chicken Soup for the Soul is another good brand that you can find at PetSmart and most other pet stores, and it's not as expensive as Fromm. Some dog foods are made as "all stages" meaning dogs can eat them from puppyhood to adulthood. But yeah, I'd definitely steer clear of Purina and most dog foods sold in supermarkets. They tend to manufacture in bulk and not worry too much about quality.

I too say vet asap.  The uncontrolled urination sounds like he has some kind of infection...That may or may not be related to the diarreah.    Crushed ice if he doesnt like the big cubes.

unflavored Pedialyte can help dehydration too.

I hope he feels better very soon.

let us know what the vet says.

We are hoping to hear from you soon...hoping that your pup is feeling much better...I've been thinking about you both.
Aww.. hoping everything is okay. Update us when you can.
