Life without a DVR is simply too difficult. I have one I rent from Verizon, another reason my bill is so high. I even have a box in the kitchen that doesn't record but does allow you to watch what you have recorded. The DVR is great for condensing 1 hour shows to 40 minutes by skipping commercials, you know me and ads. Also there are rare events when there are two things I want to watch at the same time. I can record two while watching one I've already recorded even.  Before the TV providers had DVRs I actually bought one. It was better than being stopped by the cops while racing home to watch something. I did have VCRs but you couldn't watch from the beginning while still recording as you can with a DVR. Not to worry my DK friends, the only speeding ticket I've gotten to date was when I was a mere young thing but I really did get stopped by the police a couple of times in the middle of a sleepy NJ  where my office is, since they lie in wait to see if you exceed 25. The good news is they have nothing much better to do, the crime rate is low. And to think, I was around when nobody had a TV.

I am kind of behind the times, and only have like 2 channels so I've only seen the older shows, in about 2 years I'll probably see all of the new ones. :-)

I like The Office, Numbers, Star Trek, Home Improvement, Friends, Gilmore Girls, Cosmos, Wonders of the Universe... 

My favorites are BBC documentaries and Nova though. Oh, and cooking shows. (yep, I'm REAL cool.)

Gilmore Girls is possibly the best show ever made. I cried when it went off the air.

I LOVE the Closer, but American Idol is still my favorite.

Another one I lost patience with but I still watch The Mentalist, he is so charming.

I am really liking Necessary Roughness, another show that started this summer after the regular season shows ended. F, you might enjoy it... she's a psychotherapist for a professional football team. Newly divorced, has impossible teenagers, and sees patients out of her enormous home.
