Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
It's very strange but we are already addicted to this breed and we have not even gotten our first one yet! He arrives next Thursday and we are just thrilled!
We may be NUTS especially with a 6 and 3 year old but we are already talking about if we should add another to our family.
How many of you have done this and in what time frame? 3 months, 6 months, etc?
Does it really hold true that's it's easier with two labradoodles then one because they keep each other busy?
Thanks in advance!

My Goldendoodle, Sheba was around 5 months old when I got my 2 month old Labradoodle, Duke. I am an empty nester and I didn't work so I could concentrate on my pups. It took A LOT of time, hard work and patience. Sheba was very smart, sweet and easily trained but very high energy. Duke was stubborn, snappy, indifferent. I have to show this photo of Duke. Look at his expression. In the few puppy pics we have of him he looked like this...no kidding! Duke has changed so much but he took soooo much more work than Sheba. He is a big loverboy now and is much better behaved, thank goodness!!! They did keep each other company and played pretty well together because Sheba put up with Duke. If she didn't have the personality she did I'm sure I would have had my hands full with lots of squabbles. I had to spend a lot of one on one time with each one of them with their training. My hubby and I took them to obedience classes and they still need more classes! lol
For me, I don't think I could have handled raising young children and 2 young pups. Maybe see how your family does with one dog, before thinking of adding another. Also, 2 dogs = twice the poop, food and medical and possibly grooming bills. Doodles are very high energy and with many of them have high maintenance coats that can be costly to groom. Please do lots of reading here on Doodlekisses and educate yourself as much as you can. Good luck and congratulations on your new puppy!
Ok it looks like I am easily sold on waiting! Maybe I just needed to see it in writing!
Thanks all and wish us luck on the first one!
Good move. You will LOVE your puppy. Just be patient and ask lots of questions here. And we don't mean to scare you. Doodles are so SMART they can be harder puppies because their minds are always going...you will be fine though!
I got Bandit when Rosey was just 7 months old so they are 5 months apart in age...It was the best decision because yes Rosey had something to occupy her.. there just wasn't enough we could do for her energy. Plus there is nothing better than watching them interact and play... I am blessed!!
