When we got him at 9 weeks he was a little (well, not that little) black ball of fur...

At 3 months (after his first BIG shaving) he started showing touches of silver on his legs and some on his face.

At about 9 months--more silver coming out!

At one year (and in desperate need of a trim).

Fourteen months pre-trim...

And a few weeks POST -trim.  Most recent of him at almost 15 months. (AND 87 pounds).

What a change. It is hard to imagine such a black dog going gray.  You apparently were on to something when you named him Grayson!  How perfect is that.  He is such a handsome big boy!
Amanda.. so funny!  I didn't even read down further when I posted!  Your son really pegged it!  Very mature, witty  thinking on his part as well!
WOW... Good thing you named him GRAYson and not BLACKy!  He's is stunning either color!  It just amazes me how they change so... I truly was waiting for Tori to turn gray, but after 3 years, I think her "black" is here to stay!  And that's funny because I didn't want a black dog, but now... I love it....

He's beautiful! I love silver. I had some silver pups in my last litter between my chocolate poodle and a golden retriever. The one that's really turning was the cutest in the litter!

I don't have any good pictures of him as an adult but here is one of him as a puppy...

Hes Awesome Looking!
Grayson is such a handsome guy! His color changes are remarkable. Did you happen to keep track of his weight and/or height during his puppyhood? It would be interesting to see progression rate before reaching 87 lbs. Wow, that's a big baby.
