Well, my DH and I took Rua to the pool for the Doggie Dip!  OMD...we have never seen anything like it!

There were people and dogs everywhere.  It was truly incredible.  I didn't think she would mind the water, as I mentioned below, she has always loved water.  I wasn't sure how she would do in a pool nor around so many dogs.

They had a kiddie pool...so I decided to take her it there first.  I walked her to the deeper end and low and behold, she started dog paddling!  Yeah.  So, we decided to go into the big pool.

In I went and then DH brought Rua to the edge.  She wanted to get to me...so he lowered her down and away she went.  It was incredible.  I couldn't walk backwards fast enough.  She swims like a little fish!  (Great picture, huh?  I was looking into the sun, squinting and had pool water in my eyes!)

She swam all over the pool...I really couldn't keep up with her she could swim so fast.  I would bring her back to the edge of the pool and help her out.  She would stand there with DH, shake off and look at me like 'I want back in'.  So, I backed away and called her...she would get to the edge and look down trying to figure out just how in the heck she was going to get to her Momma.  Well, she finally figured it out on her own...she lept in...just like a little dock diving dog.  OMD...I couldn't believe how far she could jump and she wasn't evening taking a running leap.

Next Sunday, they are doing another 'Doggie Dip' at another pool that is closing for the summer.  Yup, the three of us will be there!

***********************************************************************************************************

Right from the start, Rua has always loved water.  As a little puppy, she would walk into our open shower in the morning, often walking completely around the shower not minding at all that she got sopping wet.  She doesn't mind baths at all and will just stand there while I give her them.  As she got a little bigger, she was able, to my great surprise, to jump up onto the edge of my big corner tub and jump in (while I was in it trying for some relaxing Mommy-only time).

This kept on during last winter and spring to the point that I knew as soon as the weather got warm, I was going to get a pool.  Unfortunately, I just couldn't talk my DH into an in-ground pool...even after telling him it is for the grandkids...wink wink, like Sue (Murphy & Bella) did.  He quickly pointed out we didn't have any children, therefore, we weren't going to get grandkids.  So, I settled for this.

Watching Rua jump over the edge and play in the pool also had me thinking of her being a future "Dock Diving" champion...I remember seeing the beautiful painting that Linda (Toby) did from a Splash Dog competition.  I checked out the happenings in Omaha, and apparently found out that unlike Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes) there aren't any here in Nebraska!

I really thought about going 3 doors down and asking my neighbors if they would mind if I brought Rua into their pool.  After thinking about it I figure that since we have lived here for over 2 years and never even met them, that might not be a good way to introduce ourselves.

Earlier this week, NE Humane Society posting on Facebook, there was going to be a "Doggie Dip" on Sunday at a pool not far from us.  Apparently, they are closing the pool after Sunday for the season (given we have been having weeks of unbelievable temps, seems kinda early to me) so for $5.00 (goes to Humane Society), your dog and 2 humans can play in the pool.

Now, here comes the True Love part.  I really want to take Rua because I think she would LOVE to play in the pool.  That means, though, I have to get in the pool.  Not that I mind getting into a pool or even a little swimming, but it means wearing a swimsuit in front of PEOPLE.  Considering I am a member of the new Satisfaction Diet Network that Adina started and need to lose 35-40lbs, I think it must be True Love.

Don't you?

Sasha was the exact same way as Rua is with water!!  I have a small pond in my back yard and Sasha went swimming with the Koi about a week after I got her and it has been non stop with the water thing !!!  I too have the delema of wanting so bad for Sasha to go swimming in the ocean or lake but have no resources for this.  I would prefer for her to swim in a pool so I can expierence this with her but would happily go in the ocean or lake as well.  When I say "its bath time " Sasha runs to the bath room and waits at the tub :)   I have the exact same pool as you have.  My Oliver is a labradoodle and Sasha is a Goldendoodle, Ollie is not as crazy about the water as Sasha is thou.  I at least hope by the end of summer I can find some way to get my Sasha swimming.

Too cute they both have the same pool.  I would be afraid Rua would be 'bobbing for Koi' if she got into your pond, LOL.  Check with your local humane society and see if they do something like the "Doggie Dip".  Who knows, if they don't, they might just start something!

That is one dedicated doodle mommy as I see it!  I love your pool as well.  Not the typical blue pool with fish on it (although L&S love digging at the fish on the bottom!
Rua digs at the wavy stripes!  I would have preferred a pink pool, though!  LOL
yeah, I vote for pink too!
True love indeed. And I am sure you will look fine. And you won't even know these people. And they're too busy worrying how they look to worry about you. And they'll be concentrating on Rua, they have never seen such a pretty girl. And, and, and. Go and have fun.
F...no, I don't look fine, but will settle for average, because, like you said, I don't know these people (good think about an town of almost 400,000) and I will be concentrating on watching Rua have fun.
That's so cute--Rua jumping into the tub, and loving water so much.  Trav--well, not so much.  I can't bathe him in the tub because he's just too big and wiggly for me to get him into it, but I have bathed him in the kitchen sink two or three times.  This is a production too, as his back is above my eye-level when he's in the sink, but he does stand quietly.  Like he's going to be executed at any moment...  I've lifted him from the bed to the sink, so I don't have to try lifting him from the floor--but in just the 2-3 times I've done this, he's learned the system.  I put a towel on the bed, so I can carry him back and not get the bed drenched, but he knows what this means and hides.  Not even the most high-value treats can lure him up on the bed if there's a towel on it.  I finally tricked him last time by tossing a tennis ball around on the bed.  Jeeeez!  I've also taken him to bathe-the-dog-yourself places, which he also hates.  As far as I know, he's never had anything bad happen while being bathed, so I don't understand it.
Maybe Trav has heard the garbage disposal grinding things up one too many times!! He might think he is NEXT!! :)

I wonder what gets in their minds that creates fears and hates.  Perhaps Trav would like showers?

I say you are definitely IN LOVE with your little doodle girl!!  Going to the pool is clearly above and beyond the call of duty! LOL!!  It is wonderful that Rua likes to swim! Tara likes water but not if her feet leave the ground in it!!  And baths? Forget it!
I am hoping she likes to swim.  The deepest water was in the tub and when we raised her up a bit (held her under her tummy) she started doggy paddling!  Cross you fingers and paws.
