That is sad. Clearly we need to recruit more members : )

F., you have some great  ideas and make excellent points.

There are many sites that must support themselves with out the use of Google Ads.  Many members belong to groups and have outside interests.  How do those organizations support themselves??

I realize every other site is DOES this Google ad smad..  I think with some good ideas and arguments  ( and for the sake of Doodle Butts, let's stop the Low Blows I've seen in this discussion)  we may come up with creative and money making ideas to support a site we love and Adina and Clark work so hard to maintain.

Then maybe there should be a disclosure at the top of each ad; Site Administrators or Doodle Kisses Members do not promote or endorse the advertisments found on this web address.

That way, when asked, we can CUT AND PASTE  the legal mumbo jumbo into the discussion.

This way, a member, like the one who asked the above question might know.

Just an idea. .

Isn't that what is happening here....these pages and pages of questions and answers?

If you click on the corner arrow of the ads it will take you to the explanations of AsSense and how it works if anyone here is further curious.

This is the ad running as I'm reading this discussion.

We won't remove every single breeder ad, only known mills and brokers.  Just like we don't screen the breeders that post ads in the sales groups (we only ask they answer the health testing questions) we aren't going to do it for the ads.  If you ever find a known mill or broker ad, please send me a private message about it so we can block that specific mill/broker site.

I always worry that by clicking on something I have had my whole life downloaded onto a strange and loveless place and aliens will shoot through my computer and take me to a strange and dogless land.

So we would have to click on the ad from the dk site and BUY the item?

Not with Google Ads.  Clicking on the ad takes you to the advertiser's site.  Google pays for the click.  No purchase necessary.  If and when we endorse a product then it would mean buying the item...but not for the Google ads (which is all we have now).  They pay per click.
didn't know this.  I will click anytime I see something interesting.
Then I will click away on anything I don't find objectionable.  Clicking is easy and if it helps dk out I am fine.  I still will hate the ads but the purpose is worthwhile..
This is a wonderful site - lots of information. A huge community. Great people. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC which is what makes it a vibrant community. It is also private business. Like almost all other sites on the web it has advertisements. I really think that the ads are no worse than what pops up any other site. Some are completely inappropriate as is the case in almost all public venues. I see no reason why they should be any different on this site and I see no reason why the owners should have to spend their time trying to moderate the google ads. We talk about dog breeding so dog breeders are going to pop up. We talk about dog food and food ads are going to pop up. If they are bothersome don't click on them.  So much of this site is focused on education. Lets trust people to be educated enough to make decisions for themselves when they see advertisements.
So if we click and it takes us to the site DK gets paid....we don't even have to buy a thing? Good to know as several times I have been curious just to look.
